Makes 12 servings
- 1/2 c butter
- 2 c sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 c self-rising flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1 1/2 c applesauce
- 1/2 c pecans
Cream butter, gradually add sugar and eggs, beating well. Add dry ingredients alternately with applesauce. Stir in nuts. Bake 20 minutes over fire, remove and add top coals for about 15 to 20 minutes. Continue baking until cake is golden brown.
Oven Directions: Bake at 350° for 45 minutes to an hour.
