This tried and true campground recipe is almost as fun to make as it is to eat!
Ingredients
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 can of buttermilk biscuits (12-14 oz)
Directions
Mix sugar & cinnamon together until well blended. Melt butter in shallow pan. Take the biscuit dough and roll individual pieces in hands to form into long, snake-shaped rolls. Wrap the snake-like dough around a stick or marshmallow roaster in a coil fashion. Cook over a campfire until evenly browned. Roll the cooked dough in the melted butter and then in the cinnamon/sugar mixture.
Notes from KOA:
When wrapping the dough around the stick, make sure to pinch the ends of the dough together. As it starts to bake, the bread will expand and tends to slip off the stick, so the pinched ends help keep it in place.
Try making this sweet recipe savory by mixing up the seasonings. For an Italian twist use oregano, garlic and basil. Dust with chipotle or red pepper flakes for a bit of spice. What combo can you come up with?
