At Kampgrounds of America, our mission is connecting people to the outdoors and to each other.
During these rapidly evolving times, connecting people to each other takes on new meaning. It revolves around the responsibility we have for the health of our employees, our campground owners, and you, our guest.
We are diligently monitoring the COVID-19 coronavirus situation and are actively working to help our campgrounds take precautions, find resources, and continue to provide great outdoor experiences for campers across the U.S. and Canada. We are following recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health agencies, and working to put them into practice at our parks.
Travel patterns and the needs of campers have shifted greatly in recent weeks. We want you to know that the well-being of our guests and staff is our top priority, and we want to thank you for putting your trust in KOA.
MOST KOAs ARE OPEN
Most of our campgrounds are open and honoring reservations and new guests. We have had a few closures due to local government ordinances and will keep an updated list of those closures here. Some KOA campgrounds may remain open, but offer only partial services. Please refer to each campground’s KOA landing page on KOA.com for updated information on that specific campground.
FOR EXISTING RESERVATIONS AND NEW RESERVATIONS
Most of our campgrounds are open and operating. Unless you are notified, your existing reservation will be honored and our great people in yellow shirts are eagerly awaiting your arrival. Most campgrounds are also actively taking new reservations for future stays.
BEFORE YOUR STAY
Campgrounds, like communities across the U.S. and Canada, are changing processes and procedures daily. Please check your campground’s landing page at KOA.com for updates and alerts.
AT THE CAMPGROUND
Campground staff and campers can work together to provide everyone with a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience during these difficult times. Various health and safety measures are designed to cover everything from handwashing, cleaning, and other needed procedures in correlation to WHO and CDC recommendations.
Hand Hygiene: Proper and frequent handwashing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses. We have signage and training to help keep the importance of this simple process in front of campers and staff.
Lodging: Campgrounds have a variety of lodging options including Deluxe Cabins, Camping Cabins and Unique Lodging like Glamping Tents. Campgrounds are increasing cleaning and disinfecting protocols after campers depart and before the next camper arrives, with particular attention to high-touch items.
Public Spaces and Check Ins: Campgrounds have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on the counter at the front desk, door handles, public bathrooms and even utility pedestals. Some have even altered check-in procedures to limit hand-to-hand interaction and indoor gathering.
Ongoing Training: In addition to training on housekeeping and hygiene protocols, we are updating and providing resources and training as new processes and procedures are needed.
Near Real-Time Information: KOA’s Corporate and regional teams are adapting new processes to monitor, analyze and give support in near real-time to our campgrounds and our campers.
CHANGES OR CANCELLATIONS
Because of the ever-changing impact of COVID-19 on how we operate, congregate and travel, we have adapted our cancellation guidelines to offer more flexibility to our campers.
If your plans change over these upcoming weeks, we will gladly work with you to rebook your stay for a later time. If you do choose to cancel, you may do so up to 24 hours ahead of the scheduled check-in, and receive a full refund without a cancellation fee or the loss of your deposit. This applies to stays between March 1, 2020 and April 30, 2020. Campers who cancel within the 24 hour time window of arrival will forfeit their deposit.
