If you’re looking for the perfect southern California retreat, look no further than the new Temecula / Vail Lake KOA. Set on 385 acres of pristine recreation space, this campground is deal for those who don’t want to just kick back and relax, but have fun doing it. Operated by the Bell family’s Kampground Enterprises, Inc, you’ll find this campground a welcome addition to the KOA family.
“The campground is a truly special property. Not only are there 467 camping sites with stunning natural beauty, wide open spaces and shady oaks, but it’s anchored with two extraordinary recreational features: world-class mountain bike trails and the 1,100-acre Vail Lake,” says Clint Bel.
In addition to mountain biking access, the campground features three sparkling swimming pools and a host of outdoor activities from horseshoes to mini golf. For families, staffed summer recreation and fall Halloween celebrations mean lots to do no matter the season. There’s also plenty of rooms for groups.
In the next five years the Bell family plans to add 75 more accommodation units, including Deluxe Cabins and Eco-tents. There are also plans to remodel all the bathrooms, the store, guest check-in area and the bar and restaurant.
Additionally, every campsite on the property will be improved to meet modern standards and recreation features like playgrounds and jumping pillows will be added. An exciting new recreation feature will be the Adventure Aerial Ropes Course. New guest access to Vail Lake will include fishing and boat rentals. An equestrian area rounds out the guest experience.
The mountain biking mecca is well-established, but there are plans to focus on trail improvement and bike rentals, working closely with the mountain bike community to create an enjoyable experience.
Temecula resident, Ian Mole, will take on the general manager role at the campground.
“As a long-time Temecula resident, I’m excited for all the improvements happening to this recreational gem in our community. Local residents will have better access to what’s already here and also get to enjoy the new recreation we’re adding,” says Mole.
Located at 38000 Hwy 79 South in Temecula, the Temecula / Vail Lake KOA is one of more than 515 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds in the Kampgrounds of America system in the U.S. and Canada. It is open all year.
