Meet six new KOA campgrounds you’ll want to visit on your next road trip.
Every year, new campgrounds join the Kampgrounds of America family expanding our system across the United States and Canada. This year’s KOA Directory, releasing in March, will feature 490 KOA campgrounds for you to visit including 15 brand new locations. With so many new places to explore, we introduce you to seven of these KOA campgrounds in January. Read on to learn about the rest of our new Directory campgrounds – you’ll still be left with plenty of time to plan a summer road trip or two.
Valdez KOA | Alaska
Surrounded by 18 acres of wilderness, the Valdez KOA becomes the only KOA currently located in the great state of Alaska. Featuring sites for RVs and a variety of Cabins, the campground features dramatic 360-degree views you won’t find anywhere else. While the mountains wow, the seasonal halibut and salmon fishing is another reason to visit this unique KOA. Stay-tuned for more information on this new addition to the KOA family.
Brown County / Nashville KOA | Indiana
The gentle hills of southern Indiana’s Brown County roll off into the distance from this KOA set atop a forested ridge. Easy to reach, yet still secluded in the trees, the Brown County / Nashville KOA features Tent Sites and Back-In RV Sites that make the most of the wooded setting. You’ll also find convenient Pull-Thru RV Sites, Camping Cabins and large swimming pool to cool off on warm summer days. Golfers will enjoy the nearby Salt Creek Golf Retreat while hikers can make their way to Brown County State Park just across the road. Owners Paul, Melissa and Matt Lawson also suggest a visit to Nashville Indiana to explore its historic artists’ colony, shops, restaurants and live music.
Kansas City West / Lawrence KOA | Kansas
Midwest charm meets big city accessibility at the Kansas City West / Lawrence KOA. With one of the best locations off the interstate, Kansas University and Lawrence Historical Downtown are just 3 miles away. Even better, we are just 20 minutes west of Kansas City Legends shopping outlet, Schlitterbahn water park and the Kansas Speedway. In addition to the quality amenities you expect at KOA, the campground features fun activities including mini zip line, gem mining, outdoor movies, wagon rides, tie dye, slip and slide, water balloon launcher, game room, slack line and more. Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday | Ohio
In an area known for its amusement parks, there’s plenty of fun at and around the Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA. Take a dip in the pool, spend time with the kids at the playground or relax at your roomy site on this new KOA’s 30 acres. Just 30 minutes from Cincinnati and Dayton, you’ve got convenient access to both I-71 and I-75. Hosts Jeremiah, Sarah and Stacie Anglin suggest a visit to nearby Lebanon’s historic downtown with unique shops, restaurants and antique markets. If you’re looking for a thrill you’ll find it at Kings Island amusement park – world-class roller coasters are just 8 miles away. But that’s not all, zip lines, river trips, bike trails and casino gaming are all within reach, too.
Austin East KOA | Texas
The pleasures of the Lone Star State await when you set up camp at the new Austin East KOA. Getting settled is easy, thanks to full hookups at every site. Enjoy swimming in the 40-foot long pool and gathering for a barbecue at the grills next to the comfortable club room. Known for its top-tier musical talent and a year-round roster of festivals and events, Austin is an easy drive from the campground. You’re also less than five minutes from the Travis County Exposition Center which hosts horse shows, rodeos and more. If you’re a boater or an angler, sparkling Walter E. Long lake is a nearby destination you won’t want to miss.
Milton / Madison SE KOA | Wisconsin
Tucked into the rolling hills of southern Wisconsin, the Milton / Madison SE KOA is a family friendly campground that offers grassy, level sites surrounded by blooming gardens and expansive grounds. The modern facilities of this KOA include an 8,000 square-foot clubhouse with a game room, meeting room, TVs and more. Outside, a two-story pool deck invites you to relax beside the heated pool complete with waterfall. While the campground amenities might make you never want to leave, you’re just a short drive from golf courses and the University of Wisconsin (just 45 minutes north). Boaters can cruise the waters of 10,000 acre Lake Koshkonong or head north to the chain of four lakes near Madison.
