5 pounds of russet or red potatoes , peeled and cubed
1-2 tsp. minced garlic, optional
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp pepper
2 1/2 cups milk, divided
½ cup (1 stick) butter
Coat slow cooker with cooking spray. Add potatoes and 1 ½ cups milk. Cook on love 6-7 hours or high for 4-5 hours until potatoes are tender. Mash with mixer or hand masher. Add remaining cup of milk and butter and any add ins. Mix well. Adjust salt and pepper. Keep in slow cooker on “warm.”
Serves 8-10.
Variations
Bacon & Cheddar: add 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar with the final milk and butter and top with ½ cup crisp, crumbled bacon
Sour Cream & Chive: Replace final 1 cup milk with 1 cup sour cream and top with ½ cup chopped chives
