Your Ultimate Guide to Fall in Austin

Your Ultimate Guide to Fall in Austin

Fall in Austin is not really about the weather cooling down, even though that helps. It is about the calendar filling up. Between music festivals, race weekends, football Saturdays, and a nearby Oktoberfest worth the drive, there is a reason people plan entire trips around this season. Here is what is coming up, and why Austin East KOA is one of the easiest home bases for all of it.

Austin City Limits Music Festival | October 2-4 and October 9-11

Zilker Park turns into one of the biggest music festivals in the country for two weekends every October. Staying with us means you skip the downtown hotel prices and the traffic crawl, and you still have less than 20 miles between your campsite and the stage.

Formula 1 US Grand Prix | October 22-25

Circuit of the Americas is less than 10 miles from the campground, close enough for an easy race day drive without needing to book a downtown room at race weekend prices. This year's event adds a Thursday Grand Prix View for early arrivals, so the race weekend now stretches a full four days.

UT Football Saturdays | September through November

Longhorns home games bring a different kind of energy to the city all fall, and this year is bigger than most: the start of the 2026 season has been electrifying and historic - highlighted by a stunning 24-23 comeback win over No. 1 Ohio State on 9/12.  The Longhorns are off to a 2 - 0 start and have climbed to the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 poll.  Whether you are tailgating or just here for the atmosphere, a campsite gives you a relaxed home base to head back to after the final whistle.

Austin Film Festival | October 29 - November 5

One of the top film festivals in the country takes over downtown Austin for a week, spotlighting everything from major releases to independent films. If you are already in town for race weekend or just love a good movie, this is worth building a few extra days into your stay for.

Austin Food & Wine Festival | November 6-8

Auditorium Shores turns into a three-day playground for food lovers, with top chefs, sommeliers, and winemakers from across the country joining Austin's own acclaimed food scene, plus live music to round it out. It is an easy add-on to an ACL or F1 trip if you are staying a few extra days, or a great standalone reason to visit in November.

Wurstfest in New Braunfels | November 6-15

If you have never been, Wurstfest is a beer-garden-and-oompah-band celebration in nearby New Braunfels, and it is worth the day trip if you are craving something a little different from the usual Austin scene.

Ways to Stay at Austin East KOA

However you like to camp, there is a site type built for it. Deluxe Cabins offer home-like comfort with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and their own patios, perfect if you want four walls and a real bed after a day at the festival grounds. RV sites come with full hookups, including both pull-thru and back-in options. Tent sites keep it classic with a crushed granite pad, a fire pit and grill, and running water, with upgraded sites adding electricity for those who want a few more comforts without losing the outdoor feel.

More Fall Highlights Worth Planning Around

If your trip does not line up with ACL or F1, Austin still has plenty going on. Foodies will also want to check out the Hot Luck Festival (October 16-17), an eat-with-your-fingers celebration of food and music. Traveling with kids? Boo at the Zoo runs Friday and Saturday nights throughout October.
