Every year, KOA campers across the U.S. and Canada come together for a special cause—one that brings joy, hope, and healing to children facing the unimaginable. This year, on May 8–9, 2026, you’re invited to be part of something bigger than a weekend getaway. You’re invited to help change lives.
During KOA’s Care Camps Big Weekend, campers enjoy 50% off their Saturday night stay, and KOA donates 50% of all Saturday night revenue to the Care Camps Foundation, a nonprofit that supports more than 100 medically supervised pediatric oncology camps across North America. These camps give children with cancer—and their families—a chance to experience the outdoors, build friendships, and rediscover joy.
This is camping with heart.
Care Camps is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping kids with cancer find hope and healing through the power of the outdoors. Their mission is simple but profound:
Give children with cancer the chance to forget about illness and just be kids.
The camps they support offer:
KOA has supported Care Camps since 1984, raising millions of dollars to ensure these life-changing programs continue to grow.
The heart of Care Camps lies in the children and families whose lives are transformed by these experiences. From the stories shared on the Care Camps website, it’s clear that these camps are far more than summer programs—they are lifelines.
Carter was introduced to Campfire Circle after his sister faced a second diagnosis of ependymoma. What began as a frightening chapter became a place of connection, healing, and hope. Camp gave their family a community that understood their journey and offered moments of joy amid hardship.
In 2022, Levi’s world changed with a sudden cancer diagnosis. At camp, he found strength he didn’t know he had—through friendships, laughter, and the freedom to run, play, and simply be a kid again.
Former campers Ashley and others returned years later as Assistant Camp Directors at Camp Delight in Newfoundland. Their journey from campers to leaders shows the lasting impact these programs have on young lives.
At WCK City Camp, parents describe watching their children run, laugh, and play—moments that feel miraculous after months or years of hospitals and treatments. For many families, camp is the first time they’ve seen their child carefree again.
These stories are just a glimpse into the hundreds of lives touched each year.
