Beyond its iconic scenery and wildlife, Yellowstone offers thrilling ATV and UTV adventures. Bring your own ATV or UTV or rent one locally — Yellowstone's extensive network of Montana ATV trails awaits.
The Two Top Loop is an excellent choice if you are looking for a longer ride. This 30-mile trail begins in West Yellowstone, crosses into Idaho and connects to the Targhee National Forest's extensive trail system. As you travel on this West Yellowstone ATV and UTV trail, you will gain up to 2,000 feet in elevation, and on clear days, you can see sights like the Teton Mountain range and views of the national park.
The South Plateau trail offers some options to extend your ATV ride in Yellowstone, making it a great trail to run multiple times. To go on the basic trail, you will follow this out-and-back ride along the boundary of Yellowstone National Park and into Idaho.
If you want to extend your excursion, you can continue following the trail, which connects to Targhee National Forest. You can also continue along the trail until it connects with the Two Top Loop trail. Regardless of how long of a ride you are in the mood for, this scenic route follows numerous rivers and creeks, and many riders report moose sightings.
The Big Springs trail is in Island Park and 22 miles south of West Yellowstone. The trail has the same breathtaking scenery as Yellowstone and plenty of streams to explore. Take some time in your trip to pause by the river to admire the rainbow trout and other large fish.
Lionhead Loop is one of the top ATV trails near Yellowstone National Park for riders looking to see some action during their ride. While shorter than Two Top Loop or South Plateau, you will climb to over 10,000 feet along the 16-mile trail. The trail goes along the east side of the Continental Divide for amazing views of Yellowstone's backcountry.
Marvel at sweeping views as you gain more than 3,000 feet in elevation along the Sawtell Peak Trail. As you travel on this out-and-back trail, you can take in the scenery from three states and specific landmarks, such as Yellowstone, Red Rocks Lakes Wildlife Refuge and Madison Range.
