Camping is always better when the whole family comes along—and that includes your four-legged best friends! At Salem / Lisbon KOA Holiday, we love welcoming pets and making sure they have just as much fun exploring the outdoors as you do.
To help you have a stress-free, tail-wagging adventure, here are our top tips for camping with your pet:
Packing for your pet is just as important as packing your own gear!
Bring plenty of food, fresh water, portable bowls, a sturdy leash, an extra collar/harness, and waste bags.
Pack their favorite bed, blankets, and a few familiar toys to help them feel secure and settled in a new environment.
Keep a digital copy or physical printout of their current vaccination records handy, and pack a pet-friendly first-aid kit with tweezers, tick wipes, and bandages.
Keeping your pet safe and being mindful of neighboring campers ensures a great experience for everyone.
Keep your pet on a standard leash (typically 6 feet or shorter) at all times when walking around the campground.
Always pick up after your pet immediately and dispose of waste in designated trash receptacles.
Campgrounds feature lots of exciting new sights, smells, and visitors! Keep your pet entertained with chew toys or puzzle treats to minimize excessive barking during quiet hours.
Give your dog a chance to run free off-leash in our fully fenced KampK9® area! It’s the perfect place for them to burn off extra energy and socialize with other friendly camp dogs.
Set up your campsite so your pet always has access to a shaded area to cool off, along with a continuous supply of fresh, cold drinking water.
When you’re ready to venture off the campground, Northeast Ohio offers plenty of pet-friendly adventures:
Take your dog on a scenic leashed walk along this paved, tree-lined 12-mile trail.
Explore miles of shaded hiking trails together through beautiful forests and along peaceful streams.
We can't wait to see you and your furry friends at Salem / Lisbon KOA Holiday!
That doesn't mean this area has to always be empty. When you start reviewing camping options, your history will display here to help compare sites and find the best stay. You will be able to share your stay information with friends or family and save it for a later time if you have a KOA Account.
