Giants of the Earth Heritage Center

Giants of the Earth Heritage Center

From Ballard House to Giants of the Earth Heritage Center. Located in Spring Grove, Minnesota's first Norwegian settlement, the Ballard House opened in September 1893 under the name Spring Grove House. It operated as a hotel until the 1970s. The Ballard House stood empty for about ten years until it was acquired and restored by Spring Grove Area Past, Present, and Future. From the 1980s until 2010, it was an antique shop. Giants of the Earth acquired the Ballard House in January 2010 and began its restoration and renovation efforts in September 2010. The murals in Immigrant Hall were created by honored Norwegian artist Sigmund Årseth in October 2010.

The Decorah Ice Cave get its name fro the layers of ice that form in January and last until late August. Trails have been cut around the ice cave and Dunning Springs. Trail maps are available on their website.

This waterfall and trails are located in Decorah Iowa. Parking is located just south of the entrance to the waterfall. No cars are allowed up near the waterfall except for handicapped vehicles. This arcade is located in Lanesboro Minnisota right down the block from the Root River Trail. It is connected to Sugar Shack. The arcade has pool tables, axe throwing, pinball, and is planning on adding more games in the near future. The Sugar Shack has lots of little snack items and drinks. This place is a fun stop after exploring the Root River Trail.
