Local Spotlight - Sterling Nature Center

If you haven't visited the Sterling Nature Center, you are truly missing out on some beautiful scenery and peaceful surroundings! It is my go-to place to relax and be alone in my thoughts. See the impressive Lake Ontario from the overlook by the new learning center, or you can take a quick 3-minute stroll to the rocky beach, dip your toes in the water, and enjoy the sound of the waves coming to shore. It's the perfect place to view the sun set and they have a calendar full of events that are fun and educational for the whole family.

The nature center has 10 miles of hiking trails where you can spot blue heron nests, ospreys and you can even catch a beaver swimming by in the wetlands. Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash and please be sure to pick up after them.

You can also launch your kayak into Sterling Creek at the Sterling Nature Center. If you don't have your own, get in touch with Fair Haven Kayak. It's only $35 for a full day rental and $100 for a full week. They deliver and pick up!

And remember, we will redeem your bottles and cans at the campground and donate 100% to the Sterling Nature Center!
