Q: What is the final deadline for 2024 grant applications?
A: All grant applications must be received by 11:59 PM March 31, 2024 (MST).
Q: When will successful grant applicants be notified?
A: This is a rolling award, KOA aims to notify winners within the first two months of application, but may notify grant recipients months later.
Q: Do you have to be a citizen to qualify for a grant?
A: All applicants must be a legal citizen of either the U.S. or Canada, or be a U.S. green card holder or have obtained Canadian Permanent Residency.
Q: Do you have to be a KOA camper or KOA Rewards holder?
A: No. The Get Out There Grant program is open to everyone, even if you've never camped before. The proposed adventure doesn't even have to include camping.
Q: Who is responsible for any applicable taxes on the grant funds?
A: Taxes on the full amount of each grant are the sole responsibility of those selected to receive the grant. Each recipient will be required to provide Kampgrounds of America Inc. with the necessary U.S. Internal Revenue or Canadian tax forms.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Grant applicants must be 18 years of age as of February 1, 2024.
Q: Are there any other conditions?
A: Since each granted Adventure will be unique, specific conditions regarding the actual adventure will vary, and will be negotiated with the grant applicant before the grant is awarded.
Q: What is the timeline for completing a Get Out There adventure?
A: Grant recipients will have one calendar year after the date the grant is awarded to complete their adventure.
Q: Who is handling the details and arrangements for each granted adventure?
A: Arrangements for each granted adventure will be the responsibility of the grant recipient.
Q: Will anyone from Kampgrounds of America accompany the grant recipient on the adventure?
A: Plans currently call for a small video team from KOA to accompany our grant recipients on their adventure. The completed video would be used on Kampgrounds of America social media and other outlets to promote others to Get Out There and enjoy the outdoors.
