The Southeast Region has a humid, sub-tropical climate, with hot and humid summers and mild to cold winters. In the northern part of the region, Virginia often receives snow in the winter as well as the higher elevations in North Carolina. While most of Florida is in the same climate, the southern point does have a tropical climate, with hot temperatures throughout the year with only two seasons, wet and dry. Due to the favorable climate, camping is available later in the year or even year-round in this region. Snowbirds make their way to this region in the winter months to enjoy the warm weather and amenities offered by a KOA campground.

There is a lot to explore in the Southeast Region, and with the climate being so favorable throughout the year, you will find plenty of opportunities and locations to stay in the area to really enjoy it all. There are beaches and coastline surrounding the entire region as it is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. Florida is home to three national parks, Dry Tortugas, Everglades and Biscayne National Parks. There are numerous places to explore wetlands, the shoreline or underwater habitats at these parks. Straddling the borders of Tennessee and North Carolina is Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited National Park in the United States. In Virginia, you can visit the historic Jamestown Settlement and Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia Beach and coastal areas or Shenandoah National Park and the Appalachian Trail in the western part of the state.
