Hello Spring! What’s Happening in May 2026 in Star Valley & Jackson Hole, Wyoming
If you’re thinking about making a trip to western Wyoming this May — whether you’re in Star Valley or up in Jackson Hole — you’re in for some fun spring energy and community events. The snow is starting to melt, towns begin to buzz again, and local traditions kick off for the summer season. Here’s the scoop on what’s confirmed so far!
May 30 — Star Valley Street Market in Afton
Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 30th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM! The Star Valley Street Market brings out local artists, food vendors, handmade goods, musicians, and that friendly small-town buzz that makes Star Valley so special. Think of it as a place to stroll, shop, sample local flavors, and soak up some community energy — plus it’s family-friendly and a great way to connect with local makers and creators.
Old West Days Festival — May 15 to 25
This is the big spring event in Jackson Hole. Old West Days is a multi-day celebration that brings out the best of Jackson’s Western roots — from parades and brewfests to historic reenactments and live music.
You’ll see locals and visitors lining up for things like:
Best of the West Parade — a classic, colorful Western parade full of floats, horses, and community pride
Old West Brewfest — sample local brews and ciders
Music on the Town Square — live music throughout the festival
Mountain Man Rendezvous — fun historical reenactments at the fairgrounds
High Noon Chili Cook-Off — some seriously tasty competition on Main Street
It’s one of those festivals where you can wander around downtown Jackson, hear music in the air, and feel that classic Western energy in every corner.
Jackson Hole Rodeo — Starts Memorial Day Weekend
If you’re in town around the end of May — specifically Memorial Day weekend and beyond — you’re in luck. The Jackson Hole Rodeo kicks off its season around that time with shows usually on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 8 PM.
Think bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing, and all the excitement you’d expect from a traditional rodeo. It’s a major part of local culture, and the atmosphere is pure Wyoming — hay bales, cheering crowds, and that sunset golden light over Snow King Mountain.
Bonus Seasonal Events Around Town
While not a single festival, May in Jackson Hole also brings:
Restaurant Week – special prix-fixe deals at local spots (mid-month)
Public Stargazing Nights – locals and visitors gather for night sky viewing (weather permitting)
Town Square Shootouts – weekly Old West-style “shootout” reenactments through the spring and summer
