Thinking about RV safety isn’t the most glamorous part of RVing, but it is important. Because so many RVers end up out in the middle of nowhere when they travel, it’s essential to pack emergency gear so that they can weather a crisis. Also, operating and maintaining your RV responsibly will help to protect you, your passengers, and even others around you on the road. Here are some RV safety tips to follow.
Stock Emergency Gear
No one likes to think about emergencies arising on their summer vacation, but it’s crucial to be prepared for a crisis. Make sure that you have a first-aid kit, a tool kit, a spare tire, an air pump, non-perishable food, bottled water, blankets, warm clothing, a hatchet, rope, duct tape, and an emergency radio with batteries. This way, you’ll be prepared to handle almost any urgent situation.
Use Care When Driving
Whether you’re driving a motorhome or towing a trailer, you must be careful when you’re on the highway. Avoid changing lanes abruptly, use your turn signals for every maneuver, and stay five to ten miles below posted speed limits. Also, make sure you create an increased following distance between yourself and other vehicles so you have more room to bring your RV to a safe stop.
