Site Occupancy Policy

For your camping comfort, as well as those around you, we allow one family, one camping unit and one vehicle per site. Single family occupancy is based on 2 adults (18+) as well as any children under 18 living with parents, with a max of 6 per site or 4 adults max per site. To allow us to best accommodate your camping needs, we ask that all reservations are made based on overnight guests. Additional day visitors are more than welcome to join you, registering separately upon arrival (see visitor policy for more info).

We reserve the right to refuse service, cancel a reservation, or ask guests to leave the campground if a group arrives without an eligible adult present, or if their behaviour is disruptive, disrespectful, or otherwise fails to meet the expectations of a safe and enjoyable camping experience for all. This includes groups made up entirely of minors, as well as any guests, regardless of age, who display irresponsible conduct, cause disturbances, or disregard campground rules.

Visitor Policy

For the safety and enjoyment of all guests, all visitors must check in at the office upon arrival to register, sign the entry waiver, and obtain a vehicle pass before entering the campground. Unregistered visitors are not permitted on the property. Friends and family of registered campers are welcome to visit during the day and must depart the campground by 9:00 PM. A daily per-person visitor fee applies:
  • Adults: $10.00 (tax included)
  • Children (3+) and Seniors: $5.00 (tax included)

Visitor access is limited and subject to availability, particularly during peak season and busy weekends. While we do our best to accommodate individual visitor requests, we are not always able to accommodate visitors joining larger groups or gatherings. Due to limited parking and capacity restrictions, visitor access may be limited or refused upon arrival. To ensure the best experience for everyone, we strongly recommend that additional guests reserve their own campsite whenever possible. Campground management reserves the right to limit the number of visitors and refuse admission at their discretion.

Select My Site

You are now able to request a specific campsite site number with the KOA Select My Site charge. A one time $25 site charge will be applied per reservation. Campers are still able to make requests in the notes section of your reservation, without a Select My Site fee, but it is not guaranteed. Please note, we have a variety of Site Types at the Barrie KOA, designated with a variety of colours on our campground map. Once a site type is selected, you will not be moved out of this section. Please note, Select My Site is not necessary to be in a desired area, just to be on a specific site. The Barrie KOA will not be able to honour the use of Select My Site for one night stays, and will follow up to adjust your reservation accordingly.

Vehicles Per Site

Each campsite or cabin is permitted one vehicle per site. Please do not park on the grass or on the roadway. Additional vehicles must be parked in our overflow parking area. Use of recreational vehicles, including golf carts, are strictly prohibited within the campground. ATV's and dirt bikes are to be used only to enter and exit, and cannot be used on the property for any other use. EV charging is NOT supported and is strictly prohibited throughout the campground.

Respect Your Neighbours

We ask all guests to be considerate of others by keeping noise to a minimum, especially during quiet hours, and treating shared spaces with care. Please stay on designated roads, paths, and walkways when moving through the campground, cutting through other campsites or grassy areas is not permitted. For the comfort of all guests, the use of generator is not permitted. Respecting boundaries, reducing noise, and following campground guidelines ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Fire Wood Policy

Outside Firewood is not permitted within the campground, however, it may be purchased at the office and delivered to your campsite. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency forbids the movement of firewood in hopes to stop the Emerald Ash Borer. Fire Rings are available on all sites. Firewood is sold for $12.00 tax included per bag - kindling $8.00 per bag. Be sure to ask about our Wood Bundles!

Four-legged family members welcomed at Barrie KOA and may stay with you in all roofed accommodations. All pets must remain on a leash while in the campground and never left unattended. We don't allow free-standing enclosures as a substitute for leashing. Two off-leash pet playgrounds are available to all furry guests. Trash bags and garbage cans are provided for pet waste disposal at these locations. Please clean up after your furry friends.

If you require a independent or high-speed connection for work, streaming, or other needs, we strongly recommend to bringing your own independent WiFi solution.

No Clotheslines/Hammocks: Please DO NOT tie anything to our trees or campground property, this kills our beautiful shade trees. We feel it is unsafe and guests may walk or run into clotheslines and injure themselves.

We recycle cans, glass, and paper. Please leave recyclables separated from garbage near the road for pick up prior to 11:00am & 6:00pm. Do not leave garbage out overnight.

Alcohol

Alcohol may be consumed by persons of legal drinking age in Ontario (19) on your site only.  Excessive drinking, intoxication or drug use will not be tolerated and are grounds for immediate ejection.

Photography & Filming

You may appear in pictures or film that may be used in advertising, social media, news reporting, public relations or other activities regarding the campground. Reservations at the campground or a visitor's pass constitute your consent for Barrie KOA Campground to use any pictures or films it deems appropriate without payment, inspection or review.

Wildlife Awareness

For safety reasons, please be mindful of harmful plants and critters when venturing in the woods around KOA; and do not venture off campground property when walking or hiking KOA trails in the forest. Keep dogs on a leash and properly store food, trash, and cooking supplies. Your safety and the future of wildlife depend on you.

Meet Your Hosts

The Raposo Family

"It is like an extended family because it is so intertwined with our lives."

At a time when most people can barely decide what to do with their life, Tony and Amy Raposo owned a campground. In 1986, the Raposos, then just in their early twenties, decided to make a bold move and purchase a KOA campground. Tony was working fulltime at his parent's family farm, and Amy was finishing her last year of university.

"It was my father's idea, being an entrepreneur," Amy said. "He showed us how campground ownership suited both our talents and interests." In a handshake deal, the Raposos bought a campground just 30 minutes away from home. Back then the newly-married couple didn't run the campground with the same intensity as they do now. "We were so bored during the off season that we would go get jobs. We did that for a couple of years," Amy said.

Those days are over as the business requires around-the-year attention. Barrie KOA is a family-run business with the couple's three children growing up and working on the campground. "We started with the campground, and it is all we have ever known," she said. "It is like an extended family because it is so intertwined with our lives."

Their customer service keeps up with the campers' changing needs. "We do as much as we can for the customers," Tony said. "We are continually upgrading the campground in order to give campers what they want and keep them coming back."

Tony described the couple as "hands on" owners, with a remarkable staff who support and believe in the campground as much as we do". "As our KOA grows, it makes life that much more interesting," Tony said.
