Upper Canada Village

Just a short 30-minute drive from Cardinal, Upper Canada Village is a day trip full of history and hands-on fun. The village brings the 1800s to life with more than 40 historic buildings, costumed interpreters, and working farms. You can see blacksmiths shaping metal, bakers making bread in wood-fired ovens, and artisans crafting everything from candles to cloth.

There are plenty of ways to get involved. Kids and adults can try old-fashioned games, milk a cow, or help churn butter. You can ride in a horse-drawn wagon, explore the gardens, or take a stroll along the river. During the summer, the village hosts events and demonstrations that give visitors a chance to see life in the 1800s in action, from farm chores to traditional crafts.

Upper Canada Village is a living history museum that attracts thousands of visitors each year. People of all ages enjoy walking through the streets, seeing the historic buildings, meeting costumed interpreters, and trying hands-on activities that show what life was like more than 150 years ago.
