Cool air, the sound of dripping water, a visual array of mystifying stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and draperies - this is what greets visitors when they explore the otherworldly depths of Florida Caverns.Florida Caverns offers visitors a rarity in the state, a chance to explore stunning caves. While moving between the large underground rooms, one can observe the many chisel marks made by 1930s-era Civilian Conservation Corps workers. These hard-working men enlarged the cave passageways by hand so visitors could stand upright during the guided tours. They also built the park's spacious visitor center.
Historic Havana is one of Florida's most unique villages. First settled in the earliest years of Florida's development, it was soon driven by shade tobacco's economic engine. The town was named after Havana, Cuba, for its renown as a high-quality tobacco-growing and cigar-making center. Although the town suffered a devastating fire in 1916, it rose from the ashes, and today, Havana is well known as an arts center and mecca for antiques. Enterprising entrepreneurs began filling old brick buildings with shops and art galleries in a renaissance of historical preservation. Havana has more than 40 antique shops, art galleries, artist studios, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. The North Florida Arts Trail runs through Havana and includes many historic buildings. Havana is located on U.S. 27, just minutes north of Tallahassee and the I-10 interchange in eastern Gadsden County.
Set among the rolling hills that distinguish Gadsden County from the flat terrain of much of Florida, the Golf Club of Quincy is a hidden gem for golfers seeking an authentic, challenging, and scenic round in North Florida. Located just 3.5 miles north of Quincy on Highway 268 — a mere 30 minutes northwest of Florida's state capital — the course offers peaceful, unhurried golfing that is increasingly difficult to find. The 18-hole, Par 73, 6,640-yard layout is a unique design by celebrated golf course architect Joe Lee, featuring unusual elevation changes that are a rarity in Florida. The clubhouse offers a full restaurant and bar and grill, meeting rooms, banquet facilities, an exercise room, a driving range, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. For visiting golfers looking to combine a round with a trip through Gadsden County's historic towns and natural attractions, the Golf Club of Quincy is an unmissable addition to any North Florida itinerary.
