The campground was very nice and clean, but for those in a tent the location is too close to the highway. The sounds of big trucks all night do not allow for much sleep. If I had a RV I would definitely come back.

While the Coleville/Walker KOA offers nice sites, clean facilities and great amenities, I absolutely cannot recommend this KOA to anyone based off of the staff. Upon checkin I experienced an extremely rude encounter between the owner, Scott, and a local resident. His aggressiveness and rude demeanor was then directed toward me, a paying customer. Other reviewers have had similar experiences.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Your friend was stopped by security because a customer had called in that an unregistered car had been driving through the park. For the safety and comfort of our customers we do not allow unregistered guests. Had they stopped at the office as the signs say, they could have avoided this issue.

Love the amenities, live how clean and organized it is. I wish tent sites would be away from the fence facing hwy395. Very, very noisy at night.

The only bad thing was the proximity to the highway while sleeping in a tent. Maybe the tent sites could be further away? Felt like a truck might come crashing through the fence! Otherwise we loved it. Clean showers amazing sink and nice people.

Beautiful campground! Views of the mountains and 38 min away from Lake Tahoe! There are rattlesnakes in the area one found it’s way to my bag and hid underneath it. The staff was quick to take care of it and said it is unusual for that to happen. Really clean and pretty place!

Pros: Very clean tentsites & bathrooms��� Cons: Tensites are right next to the road(super noisy). They are all gravel. No campfire ring or bbq grill. (We got in late, after office hours, we’re planning to make s’mores with our daughter and realized we had to rent a campfire ring.) Also tensites come with electricity, water & a light. But they shut off all the lights at 10pm.

We had a lovely stay at Coleville/Walker KOA. All staff members were very friendly and accommodating with any needs we had to make our stay more comfortable. The facilities were very clean and accessible for the small RV/Tent spaces. The pool was refreshing and there was ample shade/seating. Highly recommend! (Please add a community sink to wash dishes near the bbqs and central fire pit)

Didn’t. For tent stay alone, too close to highway. Would’ve been impossible to sleep b/c the semi’s are traveling through the night and you have no sound insulation. If we had had an RV, or booked a lodge room, would’ve been good (why I gave a middle rating). We didn’t stay also b/c of earthquake. Not your fault…

Had a great time here! I'd never used a KOA before, but check in was easy, the grounds were very clean and well kept, and the folks in the office were helpful and friendly. When I wanted to extend my stay and decided to spring for the KOA membership, they even applied the discount to the nights I'd already booked. Thank you!

Tent camping should be at the back of the property away from the highway- RVs would at least have insulation from the noise. Could not sleep for three nights with the loud Highway noise. Electrical should be close to the tent pad not across the campsite from the tent. Sink only had hot water no cold water.

This is a clean and beautiful campsite. But…the tent sites are right off the road, with lights and trucks passing by all night. I barely slept all night. Then thought a warm shower would help, only to find no hot water. I think if you have a camper or trailer sleeping would be just fine.

Thank you for staying with us. Yes, the tent site you chose did state that it does backup Highway 395. We apologize there was no hot water the evening of your stay but due to the 6.0 earthquake we experienced at 3:50 pm that day, gas was turned off for safety reasons.

We were the only tent campers and had a lovely site with our own sink and the amenities were quite good bathrooms clean and accessible unfortunately did not get to use the pool because of lightning concerns and other than traffic noise it was a beautiful stay!!

The actual site was very small. It ended up being very hot this last weekend and there was no shade at most of the sites. It was so hot because of that it was miserable. The employees there were very friendly and nice. All in all I wish we went somewhere else.

We stayed in a tent, space 508. The site was safe with clean bathrooms and showers. My tent was larger than the tent pad, (Coleman Tenaya Lake 6 person) Thanks to the nice staff! If you are staying in a tent, the site is next to HWY 395 and the sound did wake us up frequently and it was difficult to get sleep. If you are in a RV it may dampen the noise.

Really love staying here. The hosts are awesome people. Friendly and helpful. They dealt with a pretty difficult group of people this past weekend and I am glad that they put so much work into keeping the grounds safe, clean, and enjoyable for ALL!

Staff was helpful. I loved the bathroom and shower. Best I have ever seen as privacy was just awesome. I also loved the drop down shower seats as I have balance issues always worried about falling. Your shower seat was perfect. I also loved the Corner seat of the shower where I could sit down and and put my stuff where it wouldn't get wet.

Stayed in a tent, just one night. We arrive late and all instructions were clear so checkin was a breeze. The site we were assigned had a working sink which was great. Unfortunately, all the tent sites are on the outer boundary closest to the highway, so traffic noise was annoying. Staff were nice and friendly.

Such a beautiful setting under the cliff and across from the pastures. Camp hosts were present and super friendly, easy to talk to. Facilities were VERY clean and we couldn’t have loved it more!

Stayed in one of the tent sites which was more than adequate. Even had cable outlet so I watched the news from inside my tent. Bathrooms very the best I have ever seen at a KOA, individual bathroom and shower which were spotless every time. Host was friendly and helpful.

Beautiful views. Highly and well maintained property. Nice and neat. Bathroom and showers are individual rooms and dry and clean. Operators were very nice. I had a tent pad. it was nice. Pull through sites looked good. I would give them an 11.

I thought the staff was great! The spots next to the road are crazy loud though and my rig moved everytime a tractor trailer went by! Too close to the road for me �

My first time at a KOA and it exceeded my expectations. The amenities were fabulous and the host was very nice. I'll definitely be staying there again.

The express check in was great except that there was a mixup with sites between the people that were already there. We ended up pitching our tent in an open space because ours was already taken. The bathroom/showers were wonderful. The highway noise, however, kept me awake for hours. Would not recommend this place to anyone with hearing sensitivity.

Amazing and so well maintained! First time ever in an RV and on a trial run to figure everything out. We were assisted by Scott who even helped us with backing into the space. Stayed in the fall with gorgeous trees with yellow leaves and the stunning cliff backdrop. Amazing patio amenities with a stocked screened fire pit, dining table with 4 chairs with padded seats, and extra chairs!! And a BBQ! Everything is immaculate including the private bathrooms. Obvious this KOA is being properly maintained and is above and beyond!

First time visiting, and we were NOT disappointed. Friendly resort staff who provided assistance parking or RV, provided a bundle of firewood for the campfire, and were helpful in all inquiries. Showers, laundry and entire park pristinely clean. Market well stocked, and the employees are top notch in friendliness. We will return!
