Big News!

We are so grateful to the Morrison's as they have selected us to be the future of the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA. Who are we? We are the Jones family.

A few years ago we sold everything and moved into our fifth wheel full-time after realizing that tomorrow is not guaranteed.  We set off with our three teens and our big fluffy dog to explore the U.S., make memories, and ultimately choose a new state to call home.  We nearly made our goal of seeing every National Park and visiting every state.  Before we could make it to Alaska, we fell in love with the Corbin/Laurel Lake KOA. Not wanting any moss to grow under our feet, we made an offer and shortly thereafter made Kentucky our new home. Our son will be staying with us to learn and grow the business with us while our two daughters are away in college.

We have big plans and hope you'll come see what we are up to. We put in all-new landscaping and we smile every time we drive in and see all the sunshiny yellow mums greeting us. The playground got a bit of a facelift with a new retaining wall to level it out and 16 tons of mulch to make it a bit safer for our smaller campers.  The office/store and game room got freshened up with new fixtures, a fresh coat of paint, and tons of fun new things that hopefully you'll love enough to want to take home with you. New lighting makes everything bright and welcoming.

The laundry room was not to be forgotten. New washers and dryers are on order to match the fresh coat of paint and outdoorsy mural. My favorite thing, though, is the dog washing station that is going in. If your dogs get as icky as ours did on the road, you might appreciate this feature as much as me. Washing a dog in an R.V. is a comedy of errors at best.

Speaking of your furry friends, a new path has gone in to make it a bit easier to reach Kamp K9. We are in the design phase for an entirely new building which will include a new bath house, of course. Phase one is bringing in a new temporary building so we have somewhere to relocate the power, internet, etc., to allow us to eventually knock down our vintage bit of KOA history.  We will be sad to see the A-frame go, but excited to welcome new plumbing and wiring. All the powers that be estimate 2-3 years before we have a new building. In the meantime, 30 tons of soil have been added to our front lawn area to provide a new home for over 150 new trees. Who doesn't love more trees when camping?

Dave and I scooted off to Montana to attend KOA University. Yup, it's exactly what it sounds like--literally school to learn all things KOA.  There was so much to learn that my mind is still reeling.  We are excited to be back at the campground where we can put our training to good use for our guests.

On top of all the facility upgrades, we are busy hosting Halloween fun. Site decorating contests have already seen two winners selected by their fellow campers. Each winner got a free night of camping. It's not too late to book your stay and decorate your piece of the wild for the holiday. Little campers have been dressing up and skipping from site to site collecting their treats at our trick-and-treating events. Hay rides in our tractor-pulled wagon were taken, pumpkins were carved or painted, and show-stopping succulent planters were created by our first Craft & Sip participants.

It's been a whirlwind to say the least. Every day is a new adventure. We have enjoyed each and every one of you that we have had the pleasure of meeting this far and invite you to come see the new things if you haven't been out in a while.  Come camp with us!
