Explore the Pere Marquette River with West Michigan's largest paddlesports provider since 1986. This National Scenic River begins in Baldwin where it has a stronger current, is less populated, and meanders through state and national forest land. Canoes, kayaks, tandem kayaks, six person rafts and tubes.

Weekday reservations are not required, but highly encouraged!  Saturdays in July and August fill up fast, so book ahead!  Saturday "Prime Time" advanced reservations due require full payment to book.

The Huron-Manistee National Forests comprise almost a million acres extending across the northern lower peninsula of Michigan. The Huron-Manistee National Forests provide recreation for visitors and habitat for fish and wildlife. The Huron-Manistee boasts thousands of lakes and miles of sparkling rivers and streams. The nationally-known Pere Marquette and Au Sable Rivers offer quality canoeing and fishing. Over 330 miles of trails are available for hiking in the Huron-Manistee National Forests, some of which are shared trails with horses or cross-country skiers in the winter months. The hiking and horse trails are often linear, while the cross-country and interpretive (nature) trails are usually loops of varied lengths. There are developed and primitive campgrounds throughout the Forests. Enjoy your relaxing camp spot, or engage in any number of recreation activities: fishing, huntingmountain bikingcanoeing or boating, and off-roading. The park has 5,300 acres, frontage on Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake, 347 campsites, 18 miles of hiking and biking trails including the Skyline trail and 16 miles of cross country ski trails, interpretive center, swimming, fishing, hunting and boating. The park also offers wildlife viewing from its extensive trail system. An official Michigan Viewing Area. Metal detecting area. 

Ludington State Park offers many great attractions, classes, hikes, and interpretive programs year round. Visitors can learn about the sand dunes, the Great Lakes, the history of Big Sable Point Lighthouse, lumber town, and the Civilian Conservation Corps camp. 

To get to the park, follow M-116 north to the state park entrance.
