Meet Your Hosts

Explore the beautiful Central Oregon Coast with us at Waldport/Newport KOA, where the forest meets the sea, with scenic coastal views, twice recognized among America's Top 50.

Don and Peggy bring a lifetime of adventure, hospitality, and outdoor experience to Waldport/Newport KOA. From managing campgrounds to sailing the Florida Keys and exploring America's national parks, their passion for travel and the outdoors makes them a perfect fit for the beautiful Central Oregon Coast. Don's campground experience dates back to 1996, when he purchased and operated a KOA in Ashland, Oregon. He later moved to the Florida Keys, where he met Peggy. The two spent 15 years living aboard their sailboat, SV Liberty, while building successful careers. Don worked as a project manager overseeing Florida state properties throughout the Keys and Miami, while Peggy held operations management positions with Southwest Airlines and a major marine retailer. In 2021, they set out on an unforgettable 10,000-mile road trip across the country, visiting 22 states and 17 national parks. Inspired by their travels, they returned to the camping industry to spend more time enjoying the places they love. Their journey took them to Moab, Utah, where they explored the red rocks in their Jeep Wrangler with their English Bulldog, Winston, before returning to Oregon to manage an RV park in Gold Beach. Now at Waldport/Newport KOA, Don and Peggy love sharing their knowledge of the Central Oregon Coast with guests. Don is an avid outdoorsman and certified PADI diving instructor who enjoys fishing, crabbing, and clamming. He's always happy to share a few tips or point guests toward a great local spot. Peggy loves exploring the coastline and discovering beautiful, less-crowded beaches to recommend. Whether you're visiting the Oregon Coast for the first time or returning for another adventure, Don and Peggy look forward to welcoming you, sharing their favorite local discoveries, and helping make your stay memorable.
