Free pancakes!!!!! That is the way to my heart! The space was lovely! Neighbors were respectful and the facilities were clean! Plus the staff were all very kind!

We loved it! We have been camping across country since early July, and based on prior history in another location, I usually avoid KOA. When I couldn't get another campsite nearby, I registered at Badlands KOA. So glad we did! The campground is well run, sites are roomy, and services were clean and easy to access. The staff was fantastic, in the late evening when we checked in and in the morning.

We loved the KOA. Staff was great. Sites were amazing. Pool water was really dirty though.

Staff is great and park exceptional. Clean. Great camp store, and you can’t beat free pancakes every morning! Highly recommend this if you want full hookups and location just outside Badlands NP!

Nice pad with some trees, good pool, friendly staff, next to White River, and free pancakes.

The cat is out of the bag on this best kept secret of the Badlands/Black Hills area. It is good to see this out of the way, quiet little campground get some love. The owners and workers dump their heart and soul into this place. Be kind to these dudes and find out they are friendly down to earth guys.

Awesome. Staff was great! Very helpful and friendly. Hope to come back again.

Good park, great people. I would say the bathrooms could use a little bit of updating. The shower head in one of the three bathrooms was broken. The hand held worked, but the bracket that held it was broken.

Short but sweet stay. Easy to find, comfortable, good amenities. Safe.

Other than the shower head in my stall being broken everything was in serviceable order. As a former lifeguard I do not believe the pool would pass inspection in my home state on water quality. South Dakota may have different standards.

Fantastic KOA. When we pulled in, a golf cart guide was waiting to take us to our spot and get us set up. Plenty of amenities including a dog park, pool, and mini golf. Clean with lots of shaded trees. Free pancake breakfast in the pavilion in the morning. We will return and highly recommend.

Great amenities but tight spots. Staff was friendly.

Great place to stay and enjoy the Badlands.

Our stay was great - only complaint was the bathroom facilities We were in site 133; the nearest facility was new but with only 2 units. The toilet/shower combos are nice, but please have some free-standing toilets - people in a shower can take up to 10 minutes - while those just needing the toilet are left waiting. And the porta-lets are waay to smelly to use as a replacement!

From start to finish, probably the most excellent experience in a KOA campground. The staff was overly friendly and appreciative of our business. Individual owner campgrounds are so much nicer than corporate owned KOAs. We will definitely use this campground in the future. Did I mention free pancakes for breakfast The Burrells from Bogart Georgia

We’ve stayed at this KOA many times during our adventures and have not been disappointed. This time, we had a deluxe cabin, it was pleasantly surprising how much room we had for 3 adults. Very clean, comfortable and nice to relax at the end of a long day. The free pancakes and Indian tacos are delish! We’ll be back (hopefully) next summer! Keep up the awesome work!!

We were well taken care of. The camp was clean and well maintained.

We had a great time there. It was clean, easy to get around, everyone was super nice, and the shaded oasis in that hot windy environment was lovely. As a person who loves birds, it was an amazing place. I saw and heard more than 40 species and we spent most of our three days hiking in and around the Badlands. I've never been in a place where the bird singing would start at 2:30 AM (fun for me)

Wonderful Very clean Friendly staff Great amenities I would definitely stay here again

If cleanliness matters find a different campground. The bathrooms had dead flies everywhere, dirty sinks, and stained showers. I stayed in one of their tepee options. Was a fun experience until it rained on us. Knowing it was forecasted to rain I asked the office to close the tent flaps for the night. They never did. Very disappointed that someone could not be bothered to close the flaps.

We called the night before as we were passing through on our way home and they got us in. They had a great grilling hut so we could eat without taking all of our cooking stuff out and a great breakfast before we headed out. Staff was very helpful and enjoyable. We would highly recommend.

Close proximity to a lot of area attractions. Poor cell service though Our site was spacious and clean upon arrival

We stayed in a cabin. Unfortunately, the air conditioning did not work the first night, but they fixed it when we told them and then it worked great. The cabin was clean and worked well for our family. The pool was nice and refreshing in the 100 degree heat! It was nice that they have a free pancake breakfast. They also offer other breakfast and dinner options for sale. The pizza was great!

Awesome stay with the Staff at the KOA. It was a shame for everyone that the wind shift brought in the smoke. But, it gave us a much needed rest day after 6 weeks of travel.

Close to park.

All employees were awesome. Close to the entrance of the Badlands, would stay again!!

We had a great time! The kids like Bob's pancakes better than Daddy's. Great place to stay.

It was great. We loved the people, the cook shack, the free pancakes, the bottomless coffee, etc. Our only wish is that by the tents section that waiting for the bathroom could take quite a while if people were showering since there were only two rooms, both with showers.

Well-maintained, quiet campground. Bob, the owner, offers free pancakes every morning, which brought a smile to my face. He makes a nice, easy-going atmosphere. I recommend it highly

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
