Loved the location, helpful & friendly check-in, very clean Camping Cabin, & very clean main restroom/showers. Sorry we couldn't stay longer...on our way to the 2021 Buffalo Roundup!

First cabin we were assigned had wasps. Went to tell the owners and they moved us and said hopefully there’s none in that one. No one ever came to make sure there wasn’t or that there wasn’t a problem left for the day when we came back there were wasps in the new cabin. We had to kill them ourselves so that we didn’t get stung during the night. First time not 100% satisfied

Our cabin had all the amenities of an Airbnb! White fluffy towels, nightlights, reading lights, comfy beds, coffee, patio set, glider for porch, grill…will definitely come back!

We go every year in September. It keeps looking better each year. Always enjoy seeing the owners, they even remember my name. Looking forward to bringing our Church there next year.

Beautiful location! The cabin was perfect home base for a family of 4. Heat and AC worked well. Would stay again!

We stay in cabins at lots of KOAs. Sorry to say that the bathroom- showers were in terrible condition. Mens and womens. Sinks drained slow and counter soaking wet. Showers were filthy . Would only use 1 of 3 in the mens and wife even went to bed dirty the third nite. Couldn't blame her. Toilet had to be plunged to be used. It was pitiful. Light and fan in cabin 92 sub par as well as the heater.

Bathrooms were not cleaned during my two night stay. Garbage wasn't taken out and showers were dirty. There were two bathroom buildings and the one farther from the office was not clean or usable. Stayed in camper cabin and the mattresses were very thin. Not a good night's rest since I could feel the wood frame. Pool already closed for season and it was 93°. Lovely area though.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We post pool dates from Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend. Please be sure to bring bathroom issues to our attention, so we can be proactive about solving any issues.

We stayed in a Kabin (not worth the price), the mattress was not comfortable and it made a loud noise every time we would move. Also the AC was not working when we arrived in the afternoon with 90 degree temps, One of the workers was finally able to get it working. The bathrooms were dirty, the showers needed cleaning and in one of the women's bathrooms the hand dryer didn't work.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We do try to attend to problems when you are here. Notice at that time would have been helpful to you.

Two night stay. Fourth time stayed here. Pleasant oasis in the wilderness. Great food from the cook shack. Don’t like the South Dakota flies.

As always everything was perfect

Of the 6 KOAs we stayed in over the last 9 days these had the dirtiest showers. Disgusting. The staff was kind and nice amenities including breakfast and dinner, but there is clearly an issue with the plumbing and should be looked at while also considering some much needed upgrades in the showers. But first start with just some bleach.

Stayed in a cabin….lighting very poor and only 1 electric outlet, mattress was terrible Only there one night, so cabins with bathrooms and running water require a 2 night stay. At $149 a night, didn’t see it would be worth paying for the extra night when we wouldn’t be there. Don’t think I would stay here again.

Over all the people were friendly and the outside setup of are cabin was great. Inside the log cabin we stayed in was really nice except the mattress was very uncomfortable had alot of trouble sleeping on it, we went out and had to purchase a mattress topper. they needed to update the mini golf. Overall was a nice experience, would recommend overall.

The facilities were very clean and the cabin we stayed at was super comfortable! They also have tons of things for kids to do and the all you can eat pancakes in the morning was such a nice bonus! This was my first time ever staying at a KOA and it won’t be my last!

It was great to stay in a deluxe cabin this time as we usually just do a 1-room cabin with no amenities. Very clean cabin and campground. Staff was great as well. Loved it!

The pool, mini golf and playground areas could use some upgrades but overall we loved our stay!

Great stay Appreciated! Stayed in a deluxe cabin and was happy for the upgraded firepit and table and chairs. Ate outside for every meal. Everyone was very friendly. Kids liked pool and mini golf. Appreciated the close proximity to the Badlands.

The deluxe cabins are great. I didn't realize the coffee pot was Keurig so that detail would be nice to know ahead of time. Also I didn't feel like the shower in our cabin has been cleaned anytime recently I'm sure it's been really busy but there was definitely soap scum on the walls. It could just use a better clean. I would definitely visit again, loved the dog park!

Air conditioner not working in cabin we complained said they where going to replace it next day after left the outside temp was 97 degrees and just as hot in cabin .we are KOA members

OK camp experience. Host/owner is a friendly fellow. We stayed in cabin. Two bunk beds and a bench. Fine for our last minute needs but VERY VERY overpriced. I know the Badlands are remote, demand has increased, and the “season” is short ... but $114 for what we got borders on price gouging. Cabins, especially those with no running water or bathroom facilities should be priced in the campsite r

We really enjoyed our stay. The scenery on the drive was amazing! There is nothing near by, but the store was very well stocked. The river was very low because it was August, but beautiful. The cabins were clean. One of our cabins had very sulfur smelling water (so be prepared) but otherwise our family really loved this campground.

Love the campgrounds. Did not appreciate the campers who were wearing 3 percenter t-shirts. Such extreme hate should not be allowed and represented on koa campgrounds.

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
