Campground Reviews

Located near Badlands National Park entrance and the loop road. Out of the way and with limited phone reception, but they make up for it. Excellent WiFi provided, free pancake breakfast every morning and dinners provided to purchase (sort of pub grub, but very good). Nice staff. We didn't have a hookup, but for $25 they pumped out our tanks before we left. They also have a dump station & propane.

Very helpful, friendly, hard working folks. Loved the air conditioning in the showers!

We had fun in the area. However, each time I used the bathroom/shower it was pretty dirty/gross. Overflowing trash cans, dirty floors, nasty shower mat and no paper towels. Otherwise, I loved the community feel and the chance to eat there. The free breakfast is extremely generous!

Nice campground and the free pancakes each morning were fantastic. Our site was nice, clean, and level. Bathrooms were suitable and mostly clean. Pool maintenance needs some work as the chemical balance seemed to be way off. We decided to not use the pool again after our first swim. They also need some sort of way of limiting number of swimmers. There were a lot of kids in that pool.

Our family of four stayed in the yurt and loved it! Brand new AC kept the unit comfortable in 104 degree heat and we loved the amenities like the pool, mini golf, and the free pancake breakfast. The yurt had plenty of space with a 5 and 8 year old. The beds were futons and I wish they were more comfortable but overall loved our stay and will be back!

Met our kids and grandkids there. Lots of activities to keep them entertained. We all loved the access to prepared food after a long drive in. Lots of options for camping regardless your accommodations. Appreciated the staffing levels to assist us with any request.

Great campground with all of the amenities you could ask for. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cook kitchen food was very good and convenient for the entire family.

The campground was fine owner was very pleasant and chatted with us during breakfast but the Wi-Fi was absolutely horrible in the site we were assigned. There is also no Verizon coverage and probably no cell phone coverage for any carrier and that should be noted on the app

We enjoyed our stay. Location is perfect and there is some shade there compared to other local campgrounds. The daily free pancake breakfast is fantastic. Very friendly atmosphere.

Very nice people, great customer service, excellent food. Updates to the bathrooms and shower house building attached to the store would be nice. Separate shower house from bathroom so the floors aren't always wet would be great. Overall, excellent place. Thanks so much

Well situated for touring the Badlands. The campground is well maintained, the camp hosts take pride in keeping all of the sites clean and maintained. I found the staff to be very helpful. The showers and restrooms are clean. They have large sinks by the restrooms for washing larger pots or cast iron pots. This was great. The laundry facilities were clean.

The campground is conveniently located to The Badlands National Park. That is all that interested us, so we were happy to stay here. Cicadas were abundant and noisy, but that is mother nature and not KOA’s fault. There are limited full hookup sites, which is the only drawback. Employees are nice and take good care of the campground.

This is our third visit since our kids were little and the first with us traveling alone with our new rig. White River KOA is a real gem… We’ll be back!!

This is a very nice property. The sites are spacious and level. The property and facilities are neat and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The property is secluded and overall quiet even though it is a "Holiday" KOA. The available food service is quite good - especially the "Indian Tacos". The overall amenities are very good. This KOA has an excellent WiFi setup. Great place to stay!

Never felt more at home away from home! Clean facilities, friendly staff and ample space to stay and play. Family friendly and very down home. This is my third stay at the grounds and will definitely stay again with the family. Checkout the cook shack! Great burgers!

The campground and staff were fine. Only complaint was lack of bathroom facilities. Two unisex toilet/ shower combos for over 20 campsites.

Really nice. Wish I had known that there were free pancakes in the morning. Didn't see anything about it on the site. It was nice to have but had packed stuff for breakfast which we ended up not needing. My only complaint is that the bathrooms in our camping area was not restocked several times and we had to tell the front desk several times.

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
