We stayed two nights on the 3rd and 4th of July. It was 105 on the 3rd and 100 on the 4th. The heat made it practically impossible to do anything and actually enjoy it. The a/c in the deluxe cabin was sporadic at best so that didn’t help any. I would imagine that the extreme heat had a lot to do with it. But A/Cs are made to cool in hot weather. KOA did have a nice cabin and the staff was great!

We had a great time staying at the white river/badlands koa. Staff were very friendly, things were very organized and the pancakes were on point. The only negative thing was that there were only two individual bathroom/shower stalls available to campers in the grass pad tent area, which made for long wait times in the area. We would stay again though!

Great campground with everything you need. We had a nice shaded spot with water and electric. The kids got to play mini golf. The grounds were very well maintained. We'll definitely be back.

Old and dirty bathrooms, large campground, noisy untill late at night, cars driving on a very dusty road in combination with bugs makes it almost impossible to stay outside Close to Badlands National Park

Miserable experience. It rained and since there is a hole in the tipi, everything got wet. I called the office and asked if a tarp could be put over the hole in the tipi but the guy said if I put everything to the sides of the tipi things wouldn’t get wet. He was very wrong. I slept in the truck due to the ants that came in and my friend set up the waterproof tent in the the tipi to stay dry.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

The traditional tipis do not have rain hats.

Nice, clean, quiet campground. Loved that it had a lot of shade!

Loved the location. People were super kind and so friendly. My only issue was the shower flooded and made for an unpleasant experience. Drain just needed to be cleaned. Otherwise, a fantastic stay!

After being held up on our trip for repairs Karen held our spot open and was able to accommodate us for the Fourth of July weekend. The park was very nice and obviously operated with a high degree of customer service and satisfaction. We highly recommend this KOA

Great service, friendly staff. Layout spread out a little offering a bit of privacy. Great wifi connection.

Very friendly and helpful people and a great location right outside of the badlands. The only negative was that the showers were not very clean

Easy late check in and check out, clean facilities, and a free breakfast! Couldn't ask for more :)

Staff was very friendly. Clean facilities. We had a site in the tent village. Would not recommend if you are looking for privacy and peace and quiet. You can hear everything that is going on with your neighbors. Other than that, we had a great time.

Another beautiful KOA. Just another reason we love to stay at KOAs. These campgrounds are always clean and the staff is always wondeful.

Nice park with trees. The facilities are clean and well maintained. They have a place to pick up a burger or pizza for dinner in an area where restaurants are scarce. They location is close to the Badlands NP. Friendly owners and staff.

Really enjoyed the friendliness of the employees. Evelyn (who cooked our pancakes, from Venezuela) was especially kind and full of joy. We loved her. Also, the owner was very helpful.

We had a nice stay. Our campground was shaded and all of the employees were very nice. We did not use the pool, laundry or order food.

I have been camping for 50 years. This campground is by far the best one that I have ever visited. The owners Bob & Karen, and all of their employees bent over backwards to make sure every aspect of our stay was wonderful. Bob even makes free pancakes for his guests every morning! I was so impressed with how diligent they are about keeping the park tables and common areas cleaned & disinfected.

The bathrooms and showers stunk like they hadn't been cleaned for days in 90+ degrees heat. The bathrooms and showers at all of the other KOAs we've stayed at have been very clean. This KOA is a disgrace.

Good campground especially for touring the Badlands. Lots of shade. Really appreciate the investment in wifi infrastructure as cell service is non-existent. The free pancakes are great, too!

Great park.

Good if you just need to park for a night/sleep. Lots of bugs, LOTS! If you ask for directions to tourist trap (missile museum/site), owner won’t know. Showers-icky. If you ask at 9:33 where the pancakes are, they’ll tell you it’s breakfast, not brunch (in a condescending tone-it ended at 9:30). This was all with the owner lady. Other worker lady nice. The goods=dry firewood, easy pull thr

Overall, very good.

We really enjoyed the unique options to stay in (i.e Yurt & Tipi). Unfortunately the stay was less enjoyable due to the state of the restrooms. When we arrived there were clumps of hair and dead bugs all over the floor and no paper towels. By the next morning when I tried to use the bathrooms there was no toilet paper and when brought to staff attention it took 2 hours to correct!

Great location. Good food at the on-site cook shack!

The park is a very family oriented place. They encourage interaction with other guest!

Check in was easy, staff is very friendly. They served complimentary pancakes in the morning which were very good. The location is just outside the Badlands entrance, a short drive to get to it. Would definitely camp there again!

Nice sites, shaded. Very good food at the snack bar outside.

Well maintained campground, friendly staff and delicious dinner and breakfast! Small sites, close together so not much privacy. Best option for your Badlands stay!

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
