Campground Reviews

All was well except the bathrooms were covered in water in the floor. It looked like a toilet was leaking. Also, would have had the breakfast if the cooks were wearing masks given the pandemic state.

The worst experience I have ever had with a KOA. Terrible check-in, too much trying to sell food instead of waiting on the customers in the huge line. Even after we were checked in with the office we had to wait 45 minutes for ONE MAN to take each rig to their spot. Campsite itself had the neighbors water spickit right out by our rigs steps, so stupid!!!! Getting out was just as bad!!!

Tent sites are very close. Dirtiest pool I've ever seen. Very nice check-in staff. Food shack was good considering you weren't getting anything else close by. Closest without staying in the actual NP.

Upon arrival the tv was damaged as well as the outside of the cabin and the ac would not stay on. We were fine with all of this as it was a cabin and we had a long day in the Badlands. However, 2 days later my credit card was charged for the 2nd time as well as a damage fee of $150 for the tv that we didn’t use. Tried to address this with the owners to no avail. Sad as we enjoyed our time there.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We did refund you for the TV. Thanks for noticing.

Great location near Badlands NP. Breakfast and a pool too.

Well maintained. Stewardship and posting of safety and guidelines very clear. Options for healthy food was a must. General store had good variety--espeically important so far out! TY. Facilities clean. Showers a little dated and could use updates.

One of the best campgrounds we’ve stayed at! Friendly staff, great accommodations and an easy, flat pull through site. What more could weary travelers ask for? Oh yea, the free pancakes for breakfast were awesome!

Being close to the river was gorgeous except for the bugs. Beautiful property. Staff was very friendly

Beautiful and well maintained campground. Staff was friendly. Would have been nice to have the amenities like putt putt and peddle carts for the kids included like other KOAs.

Overall a very good campground. Site are a little close together with no privacy are my only issues. Free morning pancakes were a nice bonus.

Smell from water treatment facilities was a bummer. Bathrooms need some attention Otherwise a nice shady campground close to park

Great campground. Some of the showers could use an update though. Friendly staff!

This was the most enjoyable KOA campground we’ve stayed with to date. We’ve stayed in KOA’s in IL, NE, MN, WY, MT and SD thus far. The staff were very friendly when we spoke with them both on and off duty. The couple working in the Cook Shack were especially kind and produced delicious generously portioned food! The tent camping sites were well shaded and spacious. We will be back next year.

Very nice and clean showers, chair in there was nice touch. Trail walk , terrible, no real trail just a berm around the camp ending in the tall grass. Site was clean, very friendly folks. Small pool. Good for short stay I think.

You get what you pay for. At the the Badlands KOA you get more!

Busy place. We like that. Enjoyed all your staff. Very helpful. Just wish you would trim some of the trees at the end of your lanes. Campgrounds forget about pulling out and turning. Tree limbs can scratch the side of your rv especially Big rig class A's like ours.

Nice well maintained camp ground. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Our sight was great tucked away and shady. We had the best nights sleep. Great pancakes and pizza. Nice to have food due to remote campground. Would love to have a longer stay next time!

Best KOA our family has ever stayed at! It was clean, lots of amenities, beautiful scenery and the staff were outstanding. We would highly recommend this KOA to anyone. And we will most certainly be back.

Great location, all the amenities wee needed, facilities are clean and well-managed, and staff was super helpful and polite. Thanks for the great camping experience in the Badlands!

Great stay. Clean. And not KOAs fault. But everyone keeps walking through other peoples campground.

Super friendly, nice sites, free pancakes, free pool and mini golf, free wifi, super close to the national park - loved it!

I love this campground. It's so well managed and maintained. This is the first time we have used a tent here - typically we have a small cabin, but none were available. I had a few minor issues at my tent pad (for instance: someone in a big RV parked their car in my space) and each time I mentioned something to staff, someone was at my tent pad in minutes to get things resolved. Really impressive!

We had trouble with our motor home while staying there and had to have it towed our additional problem was what to do with our tow dolly. Bob the owner said we could leave it there & pick it up when our MH was fixed. Upon return in 2 weeks they then made room available for us to camp extra days in their very busy season. This campground gets an A + in my eyes. Best KOA ever! Thank you Bob & Karen

Very convenient and nice. Be aware dump stations are not doable for a big rig with tow.

Pool was out of commission which was pretty disappointing on a hot day. Air conditioning unit in the cabin wasn't as good as other KOA cabins we recently stayed in. Food from kitchen was good and the outdoor activities were fun (horseshoes, mini golf). Very close to Badlands.

We reserved a site with full hookups which we thought included sewer hookups, but it didn't. Shouldn't describe as full hookups then.

This was our first time staying at a KOA camp and we loved it! The staff and the people around were very friendly! We enjoyed the activities they had and liked how clean the grounds were. We are already talking about coming back sometime next year. This camp ground was easily a favorite. Thank you guys!

Had a great site. Campground was well kept with clean bathrooms and free pancakes for breakfast. We really appreciated the dish washing station, the cook shack and the $1 coffee! Staff is extremely friendly.

Great staff, amenities and location.

Clean, close to Badlands National park. Family and pet friendly
Jun 28, 2021
I found that the bathrooms were not as clean as I would have liked
Jun 28, 2021
We appreciated the free pancakes, your friendly hospitality and the cleanliness of the entire park including the pool.

Great staff, good tent site, good food. Bathrooms could be a little better. Will come back in the future.

Friendly staff, clean cabins and facilities. We loved the pancake breakfast each morning. Only downer for us was the pool wasn't open the first day of our stay and the flies in the dining Pavillion were kind of brutal. Overall, a great experience and would stay here again in a heartbeat

I really liked that this campground had SHADE! And it was very quiet. The swimming pool was still not working and the playground equipment and mini golf were very old and run down, but the campsites themselves were nice.

This was such a great place to stay with my boys. They didn’t want to leave! We had so much fun riding bikes, swimming and playing golf. And, of course, I was so happy that it was a great location near the Badlands. The staff were all super friendly and helpful— they definitely take pride in keeping the campground impeccably clean.

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
