This campground is beautiful! It’s quiet and full of trees, has a lot of green space, and a great big dog run. All of the public spaces are sparkling clean. This is a place to spend some time and relax. We’ll be back!

Most enjoyable! Clean well designed bathrooms and showers. Thanks

Bathrooms were not cleaned during my two night stay. Garbage wasn't taken out and showers were dirty. There were two bathroom buildings and the one farther from the office was not clean or usable. Stayed in camper cabin and the mattresses were very thin. Not a good night's rest since I could feel the wood frame. Pool already closed for season and it was 93°. Lovely area though.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We post pool dates from Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend. Please be sure to bring bathroom issues to our attention, so we can be proactive about solving any issues.

We stayed in a Kabin (not worth the price), the mattress was not comfortable and it made a loud noise every time we would move. Also the AC was not working when we arrived in the afternoon with 90 degree temps, One of the workers was finally able to get it working. The bathrooms were dirty, the showers needed cleaning and in one of the women's bathrooms the hand dryer didn't work.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We do try to attend to problems when you are here. Notice at that time would have been helpful to you.

Stayed here because KOA is 4 miles to entrance of Badlands NP. Loved by our campsite l. It came with patio table and chairs, bbq and futuristic fireplace.

Nice campground tucked away by the White River, but very close to the Badlands. Would stay again.

Beautiful location. Nice site but wish they’d make more sites with patios. Nice dog park. Plan to visit again!

Check in was easy. Staff was pleasant and site was adequate for our needs. Very close to Badlands entrance. We were impressed with how adequately the camp store was stocked with items and a few groceries that campers might actually need duringThis was our first time staying with KOA and we would stay again.

Very nice campsite. This was the only campsite we stayed at that was not right next to a major highway or train. Although it was not quite as fancy as some of the others on our way coming and going to Mt Rushmore, it was more of a camping experience, as there were more trees than the rest (other than in Michigan). There were some cows mooing, but much better that than traffic.

Nice wide, shaded site. Bathhouse, laundry room, amenities were very clean. Would recommend if you want a nice spot to sleep while visiting Badland NP.

Truly an Oasis ! Incredible location. Great Staff too. The other RV campgrounds nearby are desolate in appearance. This place was hard to leave. Had a fun day being bale to do day trips. Highly recommended

Enjoyed our stay there! Nice campground and nice staff!

We absolutely loved it except the flies were just terrible, I’m sure my wife and I averaged 20 flies each as we sat eating dinner the night we stayed, it’s also sad that on a 91° day in the middle of September your pool was closed

Had a great time in the cabin. Breakfast was a nice surprise and delicious pancakes.

Only complaint was at check-in we were told the Cook Shack would be open. So when dinner time came around- nothing. It was closed which left us scrambling to put together a supper. Clerk did apologize about it. On the plus side, this campground has a blazing fast wifi which is greatly appreciated. The campground is clean and well managed. And there are trees!!

Unquestionably the very best KOA we have visited. Location is unique next to the Badlands and park amenities are awesome. Our site had a patio with seating for 6, a fire pit and charcoal grill.

Super, super employees at check in as well as the rest of the park . Becoming KOA members is the best thing we have done since camping. Clean restrooms, laundry, showers, all AAA +

It looked like an oasis as we approached over the badlands. The site we got was shady too. Hosts were friendly and we were escorted to our site. Oh yeah, bathrooms were spotless too. Julie, Dearborn, MI

Two night stay. Fourth time stayed here. Pleasant oasis in the wilderness. Great food from the cook shack. Don’t like the South Dakota flies.

Our patio site was one of the best sites we’ve ever had. So much space with a huge shade tree. Very friendly staff and great pizza freshly made to order. The location is perfect for visiting the Badlands. Just a few minutes from miles of the country’s most spectacular rock formations.

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
