We understand that improvements to the facilities are slowly being made. In order to rate higher, the bathrooms need to be upgraded. Friendly staff.

need more bathroom / shower facilities in the tent / electric sites. Poor cell phone and internet service due to location. Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast and dinner offerings were great.

Great spot but…we were charged $10 to be near friends I guess it’s on an email in the fine print. We made reservations 8 months ago. All 5 us were charged $10 each and we were all suppose to be close. We were not. We could walk easily but if I am being charged I would expect to be next to each other. No other KOA has charged us a fee for a requested spot.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Special requests can be accommodated, but there is a certain amount of work to be sure you get what you are desiring. We do charge for this, so we can have things as you asked when you arrive. We contact you as soon as we know your request, and ask you to call us if you want to remove the request.

Sites are gravel. Staff is very nice, friendly. Bathrooms/showers are NASTY!!! One shower head had a small crack and water sprayed everywhere. Very noisy highway traffic. Campers in and out all hours of the night. Dogs barking.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

We sure would have appreciated if you had brought this to our attention when you were on site. Thank you for notifying us.

There seemed to be a lot of people working at the campground. It would have been nice if a couple of the men had driven around the campground after 10pm to make sure things were quiet. We were in DT5 and the family in DT3 were extremely noisy after 10pm. The hand dryer in the women's bathroom didn't work and the sink area could have used some attention later in the day. Very well stocked store.

Large campground, we had the longest pull-thru I've ever seen, at least 150 ft. Very clean, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Close to all the sites. Highly recommend staying here!

Perfect place to stay!!!

The bathrooms need updating and cleaning and the firewood prices are robbery. Other than that it was a good stay.

Rather remote but very nice. Enjoyed our short stay.

Wonderful campground right outside Badlands National Park. Staff is incredibly friendly & treat you like family. Pool was open, grounds and facilities were clean. Verizon service and wifi were excellent. Can’t wait to visit again.

Very convenient for visiting the Badlands NP

Great place for a base camp to explore Badlands.

The tent site didn’t have a great place to lay the tent without it being on top of ant hills, so I ended up a little uphill on a slope. Bob the staff was remarkable.

The only reason why I would not recommend this location is the owner's wife was not too pleasant with me. The owner himself was very very nice. Loved the free pancakes. All the employees were very nice. Love the KOA.

Great wonderfully friendly park with great WiFi. I have stayed at some great KOA's but the WiFi is always slow or non existent. No mater how great the park they only get 4 stars from me unless they are a great park with great Wi Fi. Keep up the good work KOA Badlands. Will be back again when I can.

Stayed here several times over the last few decades. The campground has grown in size, with lots of shady sites. The sites are clean and level, some with patio & grills. Facility's were clean. The staff is always kind. The food shack is a welcome after a busy day touring the Badlands and Wall. Will come back for sure!!

Courteous and helpful staff.

Reserved an end space and was not provided with one. Later in the season and the grumpy nature of some staff showed they were ready for the season to end. Below average experience. Good location for a Badlands visit.
Sep 10, 2021
It was a short stay, but loved the place.
Sep 10, 2021
It was horrible. We were harassed from the beginning about every little thing. There is a way to communicate that gets a point across and still encourages a non stressful camping experience. Bob and his staff have no idea how to do that. In addition to pay extra to have a campsite near a non existent river or dried out river bed is crazy and it is not indicated it would cost more. Deceiving!

The site, staff and amenities were fantastic. The only item of concern was the frequent, faint evening smell of sewer, as people were handling portable black tanks during dinner time... gross.

Great spot outside of the Badlands.

It is truly an oasis in the desert. All the staff were super friendly. The owner provides a free pancake breakfast every morning. What a nice touch, especially for travel days!

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
