Beautiful campground. Staff was friendly and helpful. Having the food service on site was awesome. And the pancakes for breakfast was delicious! Loved our stay!

Very relaxing and well managed. They started off with concierge service to escort us to our camp site. To top things off, they included a pancake breakfast every morning at no additional cost. Furthermore, the facility was very quiet. It should be noted, for folks with small children, that the play area is small and limited.

This is a great KOA, the staff are great also! Thanks again Karen for putting our two truck campers together

Friendly staff Easy in and out but farther from the park than we expected Still a good stay

It was ok, the spot I had for my 40’ 5th wheel and 4door long bed truck was just big enough, no room to pull up or anything but it had full hookups. It’s a nice KOA it’s just a little dated, but everything works. The water was not good. Like it smelled like rotten eggs but we couldn’t get the taste out with our multiple filters. Idk if it was just when we were there but even the pool water

Nice shady spaces, friendly staff, just a few minutes from Badlands NP, free pancakes!

Staff was over the top nice. They have free pancakes (if you eat in the communal building) and a snack bar selling omelettes, sandwiches, pizza, burgers, etc. Huge dog park, and the White River is neat to walk in/along.

They did a wonderful job accommodating myself in a teardrop camper and my family in a tent.

Very friendly staff. Great sites with plenty of space. Free pancakes were awesome! We also paid for their pizza which was really good. Big mature trees gave us plenty of shade.

I camped there for a night and the ground was nice and level. Everyone was very friendly, plus there were free pancakes in the morning! I'll definitely stay again if in the area.

We only stopped for a quick one night stay so did not take advantage of all the amenities but appreciated the well-maintained campground with clean hot showers and laundry room. A very nice perk was the option to purchase meals onsite, especially a good hot breakfast before setting out on the road. We recommend staying here!

Awesome location. Easy access to the Badlands, Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. Sites are very close but mostly level. The cookhouse was wonderful if you didn't want to cook. The food was good. Staff was extremely helpful. Nice dog park.

Nice, place needs alittle updating and s few of the items were rundown or broken but for the most part nice people

The more recently renovated bath house was adequate and somewhat clean. However, the bath house at the rear of the property was very disappointing. Very run down and very dirty. All other areas of the campground were nice and I would recommend it to others.

We really enjoyed the location and time at the Badlands KOA
Aug 24, 2021
This was our least favorite KOA out of our vacation. Staff was very nice (with the exception of whoever ran the mini golf course and gave the kids only one ball and putter to play - what?), location was the best you're going to get if you want to be close to the badlands. But, this is a very old KOA that hasn't been cared for like other older KOAs we've visited. The bathrooms were very unclean.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Our minigolf is free, and balls and clubs are freely available at the store during golfing hours (which is until 30 minutes before sundown). Are you sure you have reviewed to correct campground?

We enjoyed our stay. All employees were friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the free pancake breakfast and ability to order from the Kook Shack. The only thing we didn’t care for was that the picnic table and fire pit at our site were very close to the septic line of the site next to us. Consequently, we didn’t use the table or the fire pit.

Liked the availability of breakfast and dinner served. Especially the free pancakes which were very fluffy and tasty. Also, my dogs liked the large dog park.

Such a well kept Campground! Friendly staff, clean facilities, and nice grounds. And you can’t beat breakfast and dinner on site, especially in such a remote location!

May want to check that pool. It was getting pretty green, like the pH is off. Otherwise great stay, awesome owners.

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
