Clean common areas, close to the badlands national park, pleasant stay.

One of the better KOAs we’ve stayed at. Only issue is the wait at the showers. Tent sites have shade, unlike the park Campground.

Always a pleasure to stay at the Badlands/White River KOA. I know I can count on a nice tent site within easy walking distance to restrooms/showers, no matter where my space might be located. Clean restrooms/showers, great amenities. One day, I'll even make it to the pancake breakfast!

Staff was very friendly! They told us about a meteor shower that we didn't know about and were very helpful helping us find out site!

You have a beautiful place. I am glad it is dark enough to see the stars at night. Thank you for breakfast! I appreciate the hot foods available. I had a long day driving and was in no condition to travel to get food.

Loved staying here while exploring Badlands National Park for a few days. It had so many amenities and really gave off a communal, family vacation type of vibe. The free pancakes in the morning were an amazing touch. I really recommend staying here!

Location was great but we had a lot of issues with the campground. Bathrooms were beyond gross. Mildew in the showers. The 2 family style bathrooms are not enough for the amount of tent sites & were constantly monopolized by 1 large group right next to them. We didn’t request a specific site but would have appreciated 1 towards the back since we were there for 4 days. The staff was unfriendly.

Great people and a great place to stay! The only problems we had were the speedbumps due to our low rider trailer.

Not too shabby

Our stay was good, camp grounds were clean. The pool could have been a tad cleaner, water was murky, which indicates chemicals were lacking. My suggestion…your guest age ranges are children - retiree’s it would be nice to have an “adult only” pool time. I tried to use the pool (due to a leg injury), kids monopolized it and had no regard for adults in the pool. It was very chaotic.

Oregon road Trip for Mom and daughter best KIA we have ever stayed at. Hosts were the best!

Site was ok

Tent sites are close together as we expected which may not be desired by some. Breakfast was a nice unexpected benefit of pancakes, coffee and juice. Good place to stay if entering the Badlands.

Great location right next to Badlands National Park. Overall friendly staff, but they wouldn't bring my firewood out to my site. The reason for not rating 5 stars is the bathroom situation in the tent area. There are only 2 bathrooms for the entire area. Each one has one sink, shower and toilet. Always lines in the morning, particularly since some have long morning shower routines.

The facilities were clean and everything was close by. It was a very short drive into the Badlands. There were many useful amenities; however, the campsite was very cramped with no privacy. I don't think we will camp here again, the Cedar Pass campground in the Badlands was quieter but with fewer facilities and that's just more my style. If you're familiar with KOA, this was a very good one.

Very nice and peaceful campground. Friendly staff and beautiful area. Only downfall to the place was the pool was not the cleanest. Water was cloudy and in need a attention. Very awesome they had an cool shack on-site. Good selection of food. We had their pizza and was reasonably priced and worth the money.

Very quiet. Nice people!

The facilities were fine. A beautiful & very convenient location. Pancake breakfast is awesome. We love to camp in a tent. However, other campers need to learn some camping etiquette. Quiet time means quiet time. no loud talking or parties. I highly suggest that KOA staff go around the campground at the start of quiet time to remind campers to be quiet or they are subject to being removed.

They went above and beyond at this KOA! They have a cook shack which made breakfast the next morning a breeze! The showers/bathrooms were well conditioned and clean, too.

Started at a tent site then upgraded to cabin. Enjoyed the friendly staff and food building. Quiet surroundings even though children and adults were out and about. Store offered all we needed and shower room was clean every time we used it.

Free pancakes!!!!! That is the way to my heart! The space was lovely! Neighbors were respectful and the facilities were clean! Plus the staff were all very kind!

We loved it! We have been camping across country since early July, and based on prior history in another location, I usually avoid KOA. When I couldn't get another campsite nearby, I registered at Badlands KOA. So glad we did! The campground is well run, sites are roomy, and services were clean and easy to access. The staff was fantastic, in the late evening when we checked in and in the morning.

The cat is out of the bag on this best kept secret of the Badlands/Black Hills area. It is good to see this out of the way, quiet little campground get some love. The owners and workers dump their heart and soul into this place. Be kind to these dudes and find out they are friendly down to earth guys.

Awesome. Staff was great! Very helpful and friendly. Hope to come back again.

Other than the shower head in my stall being broken everything was in serviceable order. As a former lifeguard I do not believe the pool would pass inspection in my home state on water quality. South Dakota may have different standards.

Great place to stay and enjoy the Badlands.

Our stay was great - only complaint was the bathroom facilities We were in site 133; the nearest facility was new but with only 2 units. The toilet/shower combos are nice, but please have some free-standing toilets - people in a shower can take up to 10 minutes - while those just needing the toilet are left waiting. And the porta-lets are waay to smelly to use as a replacement!

Fantastic staff! Clean restrooms!

We had a great time there. It was clean, easy to get around, everyone was super nice, and the shaded oasis in that hot windy environment was lovely. As a person who loves birds, it was an amazing place. I saw and heard more than 40 species and we spent most of our three days hiking in and around the Badlands. I've never been in a place where the bird singing would start at 2:30 AM (fun for me)

It was great. We loved the people, the cook shack, the free pancakes, the bottomless coffee, etc. Our only wish is that by the tents section that waiting for the bathroom could take quite a while if people were showering since there were only two rooms, both with showers.

Well-maintained, quiet campground. Bob, the owner, offers free pancakes every morning, which brought a smile to my face. He makes a nice, easy-going atmosphere. I recommend it highly

Nicely wooded, staff was friendly, washers and dryers worked well, quiet. Read about this location in a top 10 listicle, and would definitely recommend. Stayed here 4 nights with a travel trailer.

Rating: 4/5 from a KOA Holiday perspective Overall: We stayed 1 night in September 2021 with a 37ft Class A with a tow vehicle. Nice KOA Holiday with many options for RV and camping sites and lots of shade (vs. the Cedar Pass Badlands campground). Overpriced for a 1-night stop for which Cedar Pass may be a better choice, but a great option if you plan to spend multiple nights and enjoy the amenities. Campsite/Campground: The campground was very spacious and overall easy to maneuver. We had some confusion on the way out due to some one-way signs, but cleared driving the wrong way in a one-way with staff and made it out ok :) . Great shade in many sites, especially Jackalope Lane, Prairie Dog Trail, turkey run, Coyote Path, and Hoot Owl Drive. We had site 143 which was a patio site with LOTS of space between sites. Great site if you plan to spend a few days or week, but over priced for a quick stayover as we didn't have time to enjoy the space. Hookups: We had 50A and full hookup site with patio that included a table, chairs and propane grill. Furniture was brand new and in great condition. Hookups were a challenge – they were very far from the rig and we needed to be creative to get the sewer lines connected (see picture). Glad we had extensions! Amenities: The site looked to have great amenities. The breakfast was held in a brand-new pole barn and overall things were well kept, we just didn't have time to enjoy them with a 1-night stay. Service/Staff: Staff was good at check-in. Other: We have stayed at both the KOA and Cedar Pass campground. Cedar Pass has its challenges (from flooding to windstorms). If you are looking to stay between the two, we would suggest that if you have a soft-sided camping unit (tent or pop-up) then the KOA is the best choice to avoid flooding or wind issues. The KOA is also the best place if you are spending more than one night, as it has amenities vs. Cedar Pass which has none other than showers/restrooms. If you have a hard-sided camper and are doing a 1-night stay, Cedar Pass may be a better option with better views.
