The perfect campground in the mountains. Quiet and relaxing, great for star gazing and a good launching point to go do the tourist stuff. The facility was first class and the staff was great, really making me consider staying at more KOA's.

So impressed with the quality and service offered. The campground was well maintained. Restroom and all other amenities were top notch in up to date materials and cleanliness. There are appointments that you don't find in other campgrounds such as BBQ sites around the area with patios, playgrounds and easy pull through sites. All in all the best campground we have visited .

Great place to stay. Would have gotten a five, but was told by staff to turn my music down at 8:30 pm because I happened to be in spot 136 directly across from the main building. I did as requested, but just decided to turn it off because I could no longer hear it over the other noise and music surrounding me in the camp ground. Quiet time should not be based on where you are parked.

Thanks for the review, Greg. I want to clarify that you were ASKED to turn down your music as we received a complaint from one of your fellow campers after you elevated the volume. We absolutely agree that quiet time should be universally enforced, and we do our best to do so (at 10pm).

Really enjoyed our stay. Very clean areas great dog friendly areas. The only down side is the steepness of the rv spots... but manageable. Love the views.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Being built on the side of a hill, we fortunately are able to provide level RV pads, but as you observed some of our sitting areas are quite sloped. Working to address that over time. On a positive note, the slope means that most of our sites have a good view of the spectacular sunsets!

This KOA never disappoints! Beautiful and quiet location. Stayed here last year, now this year and will keep coming back every year for a nice weekend getaway!

If you like scenery then you will enjoy this KOA. Stunning views on the route there. The greeting once you arrive felt like more an inquisition/inspection but perhaps they have had problems in the past. Once you get to your site, you will experience a great hiking trail that will lead you top of the mountain. From the spacious RV site you will have equally impressive views.

The owners of this camp ground were excellent. This is by far the cleanest and most well kept KOA I have stayed in across the United States. Excellent place to stay and great atmosphere.

We found the campground to be so well kept and the staff very friendly and helpful. We loved the chairs they had available around the firepits and patio areas, made of old skiis and snowboards! We would stay there again and recomend to anyone.

Absolutely beautiful tent camp sites. Very clean showers and bathroom. Super friendly staff. This is one of our favorite KOAs!

Very well run campground. The owners and staff were extremely accommodating and very nice people. Strongly recommend this campground. Beautiful surroundings! Staff warned us about altitude, being from Colorado we already were quite familiar with altitude sickness but people from out of state need to be cautious.

Things were good until being told an hour before quiet time we couldn’t listen to music because the owners/managers wanted to go to sleep is BS.

I agree Dean, that is BS... your comment, that is. We asked you politely to TURN DOWN the volume due to a noise complaint. We strive to find the best environment to accommodate ALL our campers. To do that, we expect that you respect and consider your neighbors while onsite.

This was our first KOA stay and I was blown away. The facilities were so clean and the staff was so friendly. The presidential award is well deserved at this location. Our cabin was clean, the bed was clean/comfy, & the curtains were a cute/clean touch! You can tell the staff/owners genuinely care. cabin had a fenced in back area and camp k9 was great for our little pup! 10/10 would recommend!

Very remote with great high mountains atmosphere. Shower room was very clean and operational. Great service and a very friendly hostess upon arrival. As a tent camper it was way better than most. Lots of privacy.

Ours was a special situation that the owners went above and beyond to accommodate. Well ran family campground. We will be back!

everything was good sites need to be a little more flat and when they cut the grass put flap down so nothing fly out

Glad you had a good time, John. Since we're built on the side of a hill and prefer to maintain our rustic feel, some of our sites can be sloped in the grassy areas. Doing my best to address them one at a time, worst ones first. We try to be careful when mowing and stay away from RVs.

Sites are very close. Friendly staff. Had to leave early due to altitude sickness.

Sorry you didn't have an awesome time. Our RV sites are all about 60' x 30', which may feel like you're close to your neighbor when we're full. Altitude sickness is a serious concern, however we do not have any influence over who is affected. Sorry you were one of the unlucky ones.

We stayed for the first time at this KOA and on a busy Memorial Weekend. The property is clean and friendly and very well managed. The staff was always kind and seemed happy. Customer Service was excellent. We stayed in our pull-thru camper in front of the store. Great spot! The view was incredible. The facilities were so clean and cozy. Great stay all around.

What a great KOA! The entire site is very well maintained, and the attention to detail is what sets them apart. The RV sites seem to be carefully groomed to be very close to level (0.5" down on the front if my trailer, 0.25" up on the left side) and the tent pads are also quite well maintained and leveled. Come camp at 10,000'!!

Very nice KOA. Friendly staff, and helpful. Cabin was clean and ready for our check in. How can anyone complain when your under a night sky filled with stars, and a camp fire. Will plan to stay here again soon.

Beautiful campground. Sites are a bit close but overall great stay. We listened to coyotes in the far distance. The stars were so close. The office staff are very nice and agreeable to work with. Pancakes for breakfast on Sat and Sun was great. I would stay again.

I really enjoyed my weekend at KOA Cripple Creek. It is a clean and safe camp site run by professional and friendly staff. Hope to visit again soon!

I loved how well maintained everything was and the sites were level. The views were amazing. The staff was exceptional and very helpful with our request to move to a site with sewer once one opened up. I was very pleased with our stay.

Awesome place. We stayed in a cabin for 2 nights it was clean and perfect for camping. The park grounds are open and not much to see but the background is gorgeous and there is a trail leading up the mountain on the trail we found fresh bear marks witch was awesome to see and makes perfect sense why they warn you not to leave out food.

Always a fan of KOA, but this one was especially impressive to us. It is family owned and operated, and it is evident in the upkeep that the family is proud of their business. The cabin we stayed in was immaculate, they were even installing a screen door on it when we checked in, perfect for cool mountain breezes! The campground also has a fully-stocked outdoor kitchen which was a fun experience in itself. I think our kids' favorite however were the pedal carts available for rent. Lastly, keep an eye out on the way up! There are wildlife in the surrounding woods, we saw half a dozen mountain sheep on the way in! 100% intend to return!
