The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument preserves the site of the June 25–26, 1876, Battle of the Little Bighorn (also known as the Battle of the Greasy Grass). Located within the Crow Indian Reservation in southeastern Montana, this solemn park memorializes the conflict between the U.S. Army's 7th Cavalry, led by Lt. Col. George A. Custer, and the combined Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho forces under the spiritual guidance of Sitting Bull. It stands as one of the few battlefields in the world to feature distinctive markers honoring combatants from both.

Pictograph Cave State Park is a premier National Historic Landmark located just 7 miles southeast of Billings, Montana. Spanning 23 acres along striking 200-foot sandstone rimrock cliffs, it serves as one of the Northern Plains' most critical archaeological sites. The park protects three distinct caves—Pictograph, Middle, and Ghost Caves—which provided shelter to generations of prehistoric hunters spanning over 3,000 years of continuous human habitation. Excavated heavily starting in 1937, the site yielded over 30,000 artifacts. These included stone tools, jewelry, and ancient weapons that have helped researchers trace the complex lineage of Indigenous peoples on the plains.
