Wazee Lake Recreation Area - Scuba diving

Wazee Lake Recreation Area - Scuba diving

The lake was the site of the former Jackson County Iron Mine quarry and is now the deepest inland lake in the State of Wisconsin with a maximum depth of 355 feet. Remnants of the mining operation still remain visible underwater and divers often find artifacts. Massive boulders and sheer cliff faces create challenging and interesting features for the more experienced recreational diver. Novice divers will enjoy the gradually descending roadways, which are found throughout the quarry and may encounter several groups of fish cribs. Beach lovers will enjoy the sand beach area and the clear water for swimming. Anglers can fish for popular game fish as walleye, crappies and bass.
