Northbound on US 84: Turn left just before I-25.
On I-25: Take Exit 339 onto US 84 and take first right.
Just minutes from your campsite, Storrie Lake State Park offers a tranquil setting for fishing, boating, windsurfing or picnicking along its 1,100-acre lake framed by soaring Sangre de Cristo foothills (4?mi north of Las?Vegas). For wildlife aficionados, the nearby Las?Vegas National Wildlife Refuge spans nearly 8,700 acres of grasslands, wetlands and canyon vistas—ideal for birdwatching (sandhill cranes, eagles) and gentle hikes along scenic trails. Adventure seekers can tackle the 7.7-mile round-trip Hermit’s Peak hike—challenging but rewarding with sweeping panoramic views (recommended only for experienced hikers). Other nearby options include fishing or hiking along the Gallinas River and Morphy Lake, as well as playing a round at Pendaries Golf Course or NM Highlands University’s course, both offering fairways amid mountain scenery.
