Electric Vehicles

Hey y'all!

We've installed an EV charger for your use! This service, available for a small fee, is part of our commitment to providing AMAZING amenities for our guests and lowering our carbon footprint. Drop by the front desk for details.

Extra Vehicles / Trailers Policy

Back when our little woodland oasis first came to life, folks weren't zippin' around with big rigs towing trailers and cars, so the sites here are sized for just the vehicles on the reservation. If you're bringing an extra car, truck, or guest vehicle, no problem! We have space for that near the officeExtra Vehicle Donation: $10 per night, per vehicle to Care Camps.

All extra vehicles must be parked in the designated overflow area near the office. This offer is open to vehicles that will fit in a standard parking space. Please call the office for larger vehicles.

To keep things safe and spacious for everyone, we do not allow double-parking at campsites.

Thanks for helping us keep things comfy for all our campers!

Severe Weather Safety

When storms roll into Central Mississippi, it's important to have a clear plan and a safe shelter. Please review the following so you and your family stay protected:1. Be Prepared
  • Monitor Conditions: Keep an eye on local weather apps, NOAA Weather Radio, or our campground bulletin board for watches and warnings.
  • Secure Loose Items: Before a storm arrives, bring in patio furniture, grills, and any lightweight gear that high winds could turn into projectiles.
  • Know the Route: Identify the quickest path from your site to the registration building.

2. When a Severe Weather Warning Is Issued
  • Head Indoors Immediately: Do not wait for rain or lightning—seek shelter as soon as a watch upgrades to a warning.

3. Designated Safe ShelterOur safest refuge from high winds, hail, or tornado threats is inside the women's restrooms in the registration building. These interior restrooms:
  • Are centrally located and well-constructed with no windows
  • Accommodate multiple guests while providing time-tested protection
  • Remain open and unlocked during all park hours

4. While Sheltering
  • Stay Low: Crouch along the interior walls, away from doors and any plumbing fixtures.
  • Keep Informed: Look for updates from a trusted source like the National Weather Service or a local news channel.
  • Wait for All Clear: Do not leave until local authorities or campground staff confirm it's safe.

We take severe weather seriously, and your safety is our top priority. If you have questions or need assistance moving to the shelter, please call the office at 800-562-4202.

Stay safe, and enjoy your stay!

No-Burn Day Notices

On days when air quality or wildfire risk is high, local authorities may issue a No-Burn Day—meaning all open flames, including campfires and charcoal grills, are prohibited. Here's what you need to know:1. What Is a No-Burn Day?
  • Definition: Issued by the Mississippi Forestry Commission or county air quality officials when conditions (dryness, wind, particulate matter) make outdoor burning unsafe or unlawful.
  • Scope: Applies to all wood, charcoal, and other open-flame fires—this includes fire rings, chimineas, and portable charcoal grills.

2. How You'll Be Notified
  • Campground Alerts: We post No-Burn Day notices on our registration bulletin board.
  • Local Media & Apps: Tune into local radio, TV stations, or weather apps (e.g., NOAA Weather Radio) for region-wide burn restrictions.
  • KOA Website: Our KOA.com “Alert” widget on the General Info tab will display any active No-Burn advisories.

3. During a No-Burn Day
  • No Fires Allowed: Do not start or rekindle any campfire, including in your own fire ring.
  • Charcoal Cooking: Swap to propane or gas grills only—these remain permitted but must be operated at least 10 feet away from tents, trees, and buildings.
  • Smoking Caution: Extinguish cigarettes and dispose of butts in proper receptacles—never toss them on the ground.

4. Returning to Fire-Friendly Days
  • All-Clear Notice: Once authorities lift the ban, we'll update the bulletin board, and post on our KOA.com webpage.
  • Inspect & Clean: Before you relight your fire ring, clear out any debris and ensure the ring is in good condition.

Your safety—and the health of our forest—is our top priority. If you have questions about current restrictions, call us at 800-562-4202 or pop by the registration desk. Thank you for helping keep the pines (and your fellow campers) safe!

Seasoned firewood is available outside the Kamp Store. Fire pits are available upon request. Give us a holler by call, text, or just swing by the office and we will deliver the firewood and fire pits to your site. A smile and an RV trip story are included at no additional charge!

Protect Your Gear: Why and How to Use a Surge Protector

Mississippi thunderstorms can roll in fast and pack a mean punch. A sudden spike in voltage from lightning strikes or utility switching can fry your RV's electronics, appliances, and even risk a fire. Here's how to keep your rig (and your family) safe:
  1. Always Plug In Through a Surge Protector
    • Place a UL-listed, RV-rated surge protector between the campground power pedestal and your RV's power cord. (Our Hughes Watchdog has never let us down!)
    • Don't skip this step—standard cords offer no protection against voltage spikes.

  2. Choose the Right Protector
    • Look for surge protectors with a clamping voltage of = 330 V and a joule rating of at least 2,000 J.
    • Consider a model offering ground-fault (GFCI) protection for extra safety.

  3. Test Before You Hook Up
    • Many surge protectors feature built-in self-tests or LED indicators—verify “green” or “OK” before plugging in.
    • If you see a “reverse polarity” or “open ground” warning, do not connect—alert staff for inspection.

  4. Unplug When Storms Approach
    • At the first rumble of thunder or flash of lightning, the safest course of action is to unplug your RV to eliminate risk entirely.
    • Make sure you store your surge protector in a dry place until the storm passes.

By taking these simple steps, you'll protect your electronics—and your peace of mind—so you can focus on fun and relaxation rather than storm worries. Safe travels, and stay charged responsibly!

Meet Your Hosts

Meet Your Hosts: Cabel, Marie, and Noelle

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately..." - Henry David Thoreau

Hello from Cabel, Marie, and Noelle, your friendly campground hosts! We're thrilled to welcome you and your family to our piece of paradise. Here's a little bit about us and how we found our way to the campground life:

Cabel's Journey I grew up just east of Atlanta and joined the U.S. Navy as a submarine nuclear electrician after high school. I served on the USS Albany out of Norfolk, VA for three deployments, eventually leading the electrical division onboard. After my boat time, I studied Mechanical Engineering at Old Dominion University on shore duty, where I met an INCREDIBLE woman named Marie. From there, I spent several years with Mars (the candy company), leading electrical and automation projects. When life took us in a new direction, I landed in the data center industry, first with Amazon Web Services and then Digital Realty, overseeing some of the largest data centers in the world. After four years at Digital Realty (and an MBA from Johns Hopkins), I joined Corscale Data Centers, diving headfirst into the fast-paced startup world. Burnout is real; we pivoted to the campground life before things got a bit too much.

Marie's Background My roots trace back to California, but a military family meant I lived all over before settling in Virginia (ask me to count in Japanese!). I attended Old Dominion University, rowing on the NCAA team while earning a Biology degree with an Education minor. During my time at ODU, I met a certain Navy Sailor—you know the rest of that story!

I am a lifelong educator, teaching in rural, suburban, and urban districts across Virginia and Tennessee. I earned a Master's in Secondary Education from Old Dominion. (Cabel here: she has more degrees than a thermometer!!!)

Our RV Adventures We're proud “RV People,” exploring the U.S. and Canada in everything from a Class A motorhome to our current #VanLife setup. Whether discovering hidden gems, learning about local history, or swapping stories around the campfire, we've gained a deep appreciation for the camping community. Through our adventures, we've picked up the best ideas (and learned what to avoid!) to create an unforgettable experience for our guests right here at our very own campground.

Our Family We share these adventures with our daughter and “Senior” National Park Service/BLM/USFWS/Reclamation/Forest/TVA/USACE Junior Ranger, Noelle. She's always ready to explore and learn, and we can't wait for her to experience all the joys this community offers.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us—we look forward to meeting you in person and hearing about your adventures. We hope that you feel at home here and make lasting memories. See you around the campground!
