Gather 'Round Our New Communal Fire Pit!

Gather 'Round Our New Communal Fire Pit!

There's nothing like the crackle of a campfire under a canopy of Mississippi pines—and now it's easier than ever. We've installed a jaw-dropping fire pit at the entry to the campground so every guest can share stories, s'mores, and star-lit memories. Why you'll love it

  • Room for the crew: High-quality Adirondack chairs circle the pit.
  • S'mores made simple: Grahams, mallows, chocolate, & sticks are waiting in the camp store just a few steps away.

Good-to-know tips
  1. Quiet-hours courtesy: Please keep voices low after 10 PM so every camper can drift off to cricket lullabies.
  2. Leave No Trace: Drop off your trash in the bin located next to the fire pit. We'll take care of cleaning the pit out for our next guests.

See you by the fire!

Birding on the Pine Loop

Birding on the Pine Loop

Grab your binoculars and follow the whispers of the pines—our half-mile trail is a hot spot for red-headed woodpeckers, pine warblers, and the chatty brown-headed nuthatch. Dawn and dusk offer the best chorus, so rise early or wind down late to spot flashes of color flitting between the long leaf branches. Log your finds at the office, swap sightings with fellow campers, and remember: quiet steps and respectful distance keep the birds—and the magic—coming back. Happy birding!

New Campground Fun: Slacklines for Every Skill Level!

New Campground Fun: Slacklines for Every Skill Level!

We're always looking for ways to make Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA Journey even more fun, and our newest addition is ready to test your balance in the best possible way: two new Slackyards are now up in the campground! If you've never tried slacklining before, think of it as part balance challenge, part outdoor adventure, and part pure fun. It's a great way to get moving, build coordination, and try something a little different during your stay. What makes our new setup especially fun is that we now have two different slacklines with two different challenge levels. Our shorter slackline is a great place for beginners to start. It offers a more approachable way to learn the basics, get comfortable with the movement, and build confidence one step at a time. Kids, first-timers, and anyone just wanting to give it a try will feel right at home here. Our longer slackline raises the difficulty for campers who already have some experience or just want a bigger challenge. With more length comes more movement, more wobble, and a more advanced test of balance and control. It's a fun next step for anyone ready to level up.And for campers who want to get started even more gradually, we also now have two loanable portable slacklines available. These are a great option for folks who want to practice in a beginner-friendly format and get a feel for the sport before stepping onto the full setup. They're another fun way to introduce balance play into your camping trip.We love additions like this because they fit so well with the kind of experience we want to create here: simple outdoor fun, a little adventure, and activities that bring people together. Whether you're cheering on your kids, giving it a try yourself, or showing off your skills on the longer line, the new slacklines are a great way to make memories at the campground. So next time you're here, give them a try. Start small, find your balance, and see how far you can go!
