Great for families traveling with children. For us not so much. If you want to watch TV, you have to get the most expensive site to get cable so no TV for us. Not even local channels. No WiFi. We were told it only works in certain areas. I checked many areas and no WiFi. We were assigned a very loud site. Loud bands each night across the street. Street noise very loud.

Everything was good except the showers had alot of mold and mildew in them like they wernt cleaned enough and one night the shower was ice cold and never had hot water

The resort was huge! I mean that in a good way- it offered so many activities for the children, the pools, waterslides and so on. However the bathrooms could have been cleaner and the campground itself felt very crowded. I would recommend to friends but let them know what to expect. I have never stayed a KOA resort before, however I have stayed in many KOA campsites. Again, wish the bathrooms

Wifi was spotty and slow, no real, issue except no cell service (not koas fault) our friends had low voltage for two days had to run off solar , generator and a 20 amp circuit. Again stuff happens, but at the initial report we were told oh yeah known issue. No offer of hay here is a couple dollars off or we can fill your generator propane. Not the level of customer service I would expect from KOA

We had the worst spot to park a 41’ Montana. The hillside was steep, NOT AT ALL LEVEL, and difficult to get out of. If you have a choice of spots, the lower area seemed nice and certainly better for big rigs. The site aside, the park was busy, a few things for children to do and a nice pizza place. The espresso and wine place was nice too.

We are an retired group traveling with no children. So this was not the place for us. Too crowded, busy, no views. Just too much. Wanted to use the hot tub but always filled/packed with kids.

Low water pressure. The site was nothing spectacular. Sewer hook up was elevated. We never open our black water valve until we leave so curious about this set up? The check in employees and the car rental employee are the best. Very pleasant and accommodating. Disappointed overall. Convenient location but facilities and campgrounds are average. KIA might be over rated overall? Will not be back.

This park has a lot to offer. The location is great, and the amount of things for children to do is great! However, these spots are tight, and very basic. We felt very boxed in.

This is probably the best place to stay while on vacation in South Dakota your in the middle of everything. Especially if your traveling with children we never heard "I'm bored" out our children the entire time.

I was disappointed to find our cabin as dirty as it was. The bathroom fan had so much dirt and debris not sure it vented much. The blinds were filthy, I started to clean them with my clorox wipes in fear of germs that linger. I ran out way before I could get the job done. The floors were dirty enough, that after the 1st ruined pair of socks we had to keep our shoes on.That beautiful cabin was ba

This place has turned in to a 'kid' park and I won't be returning. In addition, to much golf cart and utility vehicle traffic not to mention the restrooms/showers by the rodeo arena was filthy. The beverage machine at same location was out of product and the laundry 'closed' for the season. That is puzzling in itself because the camper ground was practically full. Respectfully, Jeff Lundeen

Great place, so much to do and the shops/restaurant were nice. WE were in a deluxe cabin and had significant trouble logging into WiFi and staying logged in. Perhaps a few more router to increase access. It was our only complaint as it made contacting us in emergency very difficult.

Loved the activities. The prospectors tent breakfast was good. The cable tv (to our cabin) was turned off due to construction, which was a bummer. It was very crowded and probably too many people for my taste. But my son loved it.

Absolutely love this place. I have been camping here ever since I was a child with my family. I like to consider it a second home.

The only reason for my rating so low is because campsites are very small, however they have lots of stuff for the little ones to do. When we weren’t out doing things things the kids were busy the entire time. Would highly recommend the trail ride if you have time. It did cost extra, but was worth it, as well as the UTV rentals.

Beautiful Campground, good general store. We liked the rodeo and the group that played. As we were tent camping though, we found some of our bare necessities were not met. The biggest was the bathroom. It was too far away from the only tent camping area and there were too few of them for how many people. Absolutely disgusting, both the shower and toilet parts. It really cramped our stay there

We stayed at a deluxe tent site. Restroom, camping kitchen etc very convenient. Clean campground with huge variety of activities. Great place for families! Beautiful landscaping.

Fabulous campground the only complaint I have is that it’s impossible to call and reach anyone on the phone very frustrating. I received a message saying we were checking out and we weren’t, we were out of the campground for the day and I could not get in touch with anyone. When We got back and I asked they said all calls go to a call center. Made for a stressful day.

Zero instruction was given to us at check on what to do with garbage, or on site amenities available such as renting bikes or UTV's, where to do laundry, where to buy firewood, etc. Overall we had fun and will plan to return, but will be doing things differently to ensure a better stay now that we are familiar with the property and policies.

Our site was so close to the site next to us. The family at the site next to us had no place to be except at our site too. No one should be allowed in that site. When you have no place to put a picnic table except on the same side as ours it’s an issue. Especially for the ridiculously high rates you charge. I shouldn’t have to share my site.

The campsite was ok, as in average. Suggested improvements are: Wider sites, we were too close to our neighbors on both sides, Relocate the sewer access from the very rear of the site to midway of site, Plant some trees to provide some shade.

Biggest problem rented a cabin mattress was so worn out like sleeping on nothing. Also squirrel has made it's home under the cabin and inside the walls so it was impossible to sleep. Told the staff they said to bad. Water in the pools was brown shower houses dirty and way to over crowded.

Nicest campground. Terrific amenities and clean showers and restrooms. Staff incredibly nice snd helpful. Wish we had planned a few more days there. So much to see

The power to our site was not a full 120 V and dropped low enough so that our camper would not run on it for part of our stay. We reported it to the office but never heard anything back. We also had water at our site that was dirty brown with large amounts of sediment in it that we weren’t able to use at all. The office told us the water was supposed to look that way because it was a well.

Family had a great time! The kids loved all the activities and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Awesome location! We will definitely be staying here next time!

The amenities at this place are amazing. Live music, alcoholic beverages on site. many food choices. But I had to give them low marks because the free wifi was nonexistent. When I'm traveling my laptop is the source of news, checking e-mails and bank accounts. There was also no cell phone service but I don't think that's KOA's fault. At these prices, internet service is a must.

Loved all the things to do. My kids, ages 15, 12&9, were in heaven. My only complaints is the WiFi as everyone else has mentioned, trash near a bathroom/shower station overflowing onto the ground for 3 days before it was cleaned up and that same station had its laundry services closed for the season. It was only August

Great place to visit Mount Rushmore, amazing location, beautiful background to wake up to. Luke warm showers left much to be desired, but all in all a lot of fun provided for the family.

I was disappointed about the state of the swimming pool and hot tub. They appeared very dirty

Great place, especially for families. Location is great for many of the sightseeing places

Four days wasn’t enough. Rented UTV’s, swimming, playground, bounce pillow, pancake breakfast, campfire etc. Perfect location to hit up 1880’s train, Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park. This is definitely a two week resort/vacation spot. Staff was amazing, facilities were clean. The only negative was the restaurant/bar not being open but that’s everywhere and didn’t affect our stay

Very disappointed. Too packed in and absolutely no reception for phones or tv reception. We tried all sorts of areas for reception and there just wasn’t any. Seems you were worried more about money. Grumpy old man checked our camper in. We booked 4 campers at your KOA and all said the same. Roads were horrible. With all the money this one makes you could do so much better.

A lot of activities to keep kids busy. Staff is very friendly. Campground close to a lot of sites, attractions and shopping. Will definitely be back!!
Aug 29, 2021
Bad wi-fi no phone service. Must be SOME way to improve your work-fi. Disconnected from everything not so good.
Aug 29, 2021
This is our 3rd year at this location, and once again we all were sad to leave. There is something for everyone. Our favorites are kids movies at night, horseback riding, live music at Grapes and Grind. Thanks KOA!

Won’t stay there again. No cell phone reception. WiFi spotty at best. Can’t get important info when traveling
Aug 29, 2021
The Palmer Gulch site has amenities that are fabulous. The stables, Fin Zone, rental opportunities are outstanding. The staff Are friendly and helpful. It has 3 MAJOR issues. (1) it has the worst WiFi connectivity in an area with no cell service. Service needs upgrade. (2) Bathrooms are NOT well maintained (3) Nobody answers the phone line at ALL. There is no way to get someone quickly.
Aug 29, 2021
To much noise after hours and muddy around camp site many good things at the camp ground before I send someone to KOA Mt Rushmore I would tell them to get in camp early and inspect your site.
Aug 29, 2021
Plenty of things to do in camp but also close to the tourist stuff near by. Clean restrooms. Foods a little pricey but that's to be expected
Aug 29, 2021
An RV park heaven for families with kids, especially between ages 6 and 12. Lots to do for our kids—who didn’t want to leave—giving the adults an opportunity to relax and enjoy being unplugged because the cell and Wi-Fi service at the campground was spotty at best. Everyone was very friendly and the ability to rent a car on site was key to touring Custer State Park when traveling in a Class

It was fantastic. Lots to see and do. You need a week minimum to see all.

We dry docked for the night since they are closed for the season. This KOA is very beautiful with deer coming right up to the front door.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nites, and it was Phenomenal. A beautiful Resort atmosphere and even though it was at the very end of the season, every one there was very helpful and especially Becky. She is so knowledgeable about the area. I worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and I would hire here in a heartbeat to work with. KOA is very fortunate to have employees of this caliber.

This KOA is in a perfect location and would love to stay here again. We rented a glammed cabin which is just a upgrade from their simple cabins but well worth it in my opinion. Your cabin already comes with bedding, a mini fridge, microwave, outdoor grill and table and chairs. You have a beautiful view of the woods and the campground itself has so many activities. You're right in the middle of the black forest, custer state park and Mt Rushmore. I will definitely be staying there again.
