Campground Reviews

The bathroom by the pool was filthy. The toilet was backed up. Floor was dirty.

We had a great stay. There was too many campers for the pool, pillow, and golfing. Also the bathrooms and pool were not very clean, otherwise no other concerns.

Great fun, location, activities and staff. It was such a great family trip. You need more than 3 days I would plan for an entire week next time.

The place is absolutely beautiful - many things too do there- more for kids - but the views are amazing

We loved it. It was quiet people were respectful there was so much to do. Our kids 4 & 2 did not want to go home.

Our Stay was great. The only thing we saw was it was a little crowded. It was hard to get RV in and out of parking spot. Other than that it was a great stay and will come back.

Too many people around. I mean good for you on being able to book so many people in there, but not really the quiet camping trip we were going for.

Staff were super friendly and helpful! Very clean campground. Bathrooms were very clean. Best KOA we have stayed at so far!

We stayed in site 382 and the site was huge! We had a small family reunion with family on two other sites and in two hotel rooms, but ours was easily able to handle all 14 of us on the site during the day. This was our 3rd time staying at this KOA and we will continue to stay there if/when we visit the Black Hills again.

It was a nice Big campground with a lot of amenities. However, there was absolutely no phone reception, wifi, or cell data, nothing, nada. I had work that needed to be done and it was impossible. I would not recommend this koa for anyone who had to be connected due to work. Wifi is advertised, it should not be.

Despite being within mere feet of each camping neighbor the nights were quiet and peaceful. Be prepared for cramped parking. With any breeze at all your campfire smoke will drift into your neighbors camper.

For the amount of campers sharing this KOA, it was really clean. There was plenty to do. Highly recommend the horseback riding to a dutch oven dinner. Yum!

We had a nice time but both work from the road and didn’t have cell service and the Wi-Fi was horrible!!!!! Laundry room was so dirty and more expensive than other KOAs.

There are lots of fun activities available for kids. Horseback riding was great! Early morning walls around camp were beautiful! Please consider ceiling fans for cabins and Tilex for showers.

Stay was pleasant. Campground kept up nice. One issue was low power voltage. Even with 0 amp draw voltage was very low around 110V. Drawing 14A voltage down to 108. This creates problems with surge protectors having low voltage alarm and stopping power into the camper.

The tent sites were clean and well placed. The pools were great as was the fun zone. All my children enjoyed the water slide. We were a little disappointed that the sign up for horse rides were booked so far in advance. It was very convenient to get to Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mounments.

My family had a great time throughout our stay. We loved the opportunities for our 19-month old son, particularly the playgrounds and splash pad. Big shout out to Anthony for handling our check in and extension for an extra night. Anthony was very professional, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. Thanks, we hope to come back soon!

My family and I has a great stay at the Pulmer Gulch KOA. I really suggest taking advantage of the bus offer for the night lighting of Mt. Rushmore. We went in August and had plenty of time to see everything with the sun still out. Once the show is done they bring you right back to camp. The best part is that you don't have to deal with all the traffic. Awesome stay. Mahalo

For someone not looking for Hassel and busses this is not for you. Was not pleased with our space as it was not level and our one side of 5th wheel was off the ground and had to build steps to level steps into trailer.

We enjoyed our stay, lots to do! I liked that they picked up trash at the campsites every morning. It was a lot of fun and I plan to return in the future.

Location was perfect and so were the campground amenities! Our deluxe cabin had the space but was lacking on general supplies and cleanliness. Overall I would recommend however pack a few extra supplies!

Very large, crowded, clean KOA. If you have kids and want a lot of activities, then this may be the place for you. Pools, waterside, mini golf, utv rentals, basketball courts, gaga ball pits, cornhole, horseback riding, jump pillow, rock climbing, restaurants and bar. Sites were packed in and hard to get rv and car on site (we were up on the hill). Too busy and crowded for our family.

Convenient area for site seeing etc. However, the campground itself was WAY TOO BIG! We are used to KOA campgrounds being pleasant, clean, and everything working...this KOA with 1000+ campers at least had only 1 functioning laundry, low water pressure, the restaurant was closed (the Fiesta nite every nite tent is not our thing), campsites too close together, VERY limited WiFi, & no ice...sigh.

I stay almost exclusively at koa’s when traveling, and was a tad disappointed in this one. My biggest gripe was that I was assured when booking that I would have a 75 ft pull thru site, and I needed every inch of 75 feet. I had a 45 ft coach pulling a car hauler trailer. When I got there, no 75 ft pull thru site. First time that has ever happened to me, with dozens of stays at multipl proper

Fum family resort with lots of attractions! Very clean and friendly staff!

That was absolutely spectacular! I could not believe how many things you had for the kids!!! We didn't want to leave!!

It 's a kid's paradise. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Palmer Gulch Campground with our 4 grandkids. They were worn out at the end of each day and so were the grandparents. Staff was excellent and the campsites were some of the best that we have ever been to. This is one of the top campground for kids in the USA.

We dry docked for the night since they are closed for the season. This KOA is very beautiful with deer coming right up to the front door.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nites, and it was Phenomenal. A beautiful Resort atmosphere and even though it was at the very end of the season, every one there was very helpful and especially Becky. She is so knowledgeable about the area. I worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and I would hire here in a heartbeat to work with. KOA is very fortunate to have employees of this caliber.

This KOA is in a perfect location and would love to stay here again. We rented a glammed cabin which is just a upgrade from their simple cabins but well worth it in my opinion. Your cabin already comes with bedding, a mini fridge, microwave, outdoor grill and table and chairs. You have a beautiful view of the woods and the campground itself has so many activities. You're right in the middle of the black forest, custer state park and Mt Rushmore. I will definitely be staying there again.
