Site was terrible and seems they could have repaired the huge gully to get into site. Otherwise all good.

Best KOA I’ve ever stayed at!!! Truly impressive!

Will always come back every year! Been here every year since 1998! Always willing to accommodate us even when the trucks break down! This year it was during the busy Sturgis weekend! This is our favorite KOA we started coming here for all the kids amenities they have. Now we come for the adult relaxation! Even the dogs love their mountain walks! Cant wait to see the finished renovation next year!

The guys outside of registration were not helpful at all. They should have driven their golf carts to show us our site. They just pointed in the general direction.

This place is crazy big. It’s like a small city. However, the site we were in was not much to speak of for the price we paid. In witch case I have to assume we are paying for the vast amenities at this place and not so much the camp site. Which is a bummer for those just passing through to see the local sites with no time to utilize the amenities. Great location but you pay for it.

Check was so easy, campsites were clean and comfortable!

Never Again!!! Traveling with my father 78 years old and my husband who is a disabled veteran, the site we were give was so unlevel that we had to create steps to get into our 5th wheel camper (Not very safe but it was the best we could do). They advertise that they have cable, they DO NOT. There is a limit on characters for this comment so I cant finish.

Very disappointed in lack of Internet and cell phone service. We needed to go to Hill city or Custer city to get Wi-Fi signal. All other amenities were very good.

we come back every year because we feel welcome and the service is great. Also the amenities are the best.

Amazing campground, tons of amenities, friendly staff!

This was a great location and there was a lot to do. There weren’t enough bathrooms (our area bathrooms were the ones for the pool as well so they were always full and dirty). The camp is maintained well but the sites are extremely small in the main RV field. If you have a small camper and sign up for just electric/water, be sure to try and request the woods as it looked really nice in compariso

GREAT activities for families. Great location. Pretty setting. The only negative would be the lack of cell service and wifi.

Very lovely staff, nice people. Much larger and busier than we anticipated, however we were in a very nice place tucked away in back so it was less chaotic. The cleanliness of the showers was a problem. My husband's shower was packed with mud. Mine had a lot of dirt on the floor outside the showerpan and the drain clogged so water was ankle deep. Extra hooks on the wall would be helpful.

It is a huge disadvantage that there is no internet, telephone service. Have to drive almost to Custer to get any service. I still work and could not contact clients. Horse back riding was wonderful.

We actually stayed here: Custer / Mount Rushmore / Black Hills KOA Holiday. Not sure why this one came up? Excellent staff and facilities!!!

The sites were very well Kept and neat! Plenty of room.

Bathrooms were continually disgusting and dumpsters overflowing. Registration desk was wonderful!

Clean and nice, very friendly staff. Would be nice if you could improve your WiFi.

Good place to stay can get a little crowded. wifi is terrible.

Loved the pancake breakfast, ice cream, and coffee shop. We also had an issue with our RV jacks not retracting and the maintenance staff was super helpful in getting us back on the road again. Highly recommend and wish we could’ve stayed longer than one night!

Staff very friendly and helpful

This place was the nicest so far. The bathrooms were clean, tons of stuff to do there, great restaurants.

parking spots are very close together and was hard to pull in. You have to pull your tow vehicle either next to your camper in your relaxation area or in front, which blocks the road. It was impossible to pull out when it was time to leave due to all the vehicles blocking the area. I had to back out completely, which is dangerous when there are so many people around. Otherwise, Amazing!!!

Incredibly friendly staff, clean campgrounds, lots of activities for the kids… just wish WiFi worked better.

No showers. Asked front desk if they had showers and they said no. So if you are camping with no shower you get to just go rinse your dirty body off in pool Bikers coming in through the night. Reving engines. If you plan to tent camp or use a camper with no fan or AC that can maybe over power the sounds of bikers coming in (last ones I heard were at 1:45 am) then you might want to not stay here.

As always it was a great stay!

We can't say enough great things about our stay at KOA Mount Rushmore. The cleanliness, activities, facilities, landscape, scenery! All amazing! We had 4 families, 4 travel trailers, 13 kids - we never ran out of things to do for the 7 nights we stayed! The location is perfect for visiting nearby attractions; Mount Rushmore, Custer, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, etc. We highly recommend this campground!

Sites are way too close together. I barely had 10 feet between my camper door and the next camper.

Great location and bathrooms were very clean. Would stay again if visiting Mt. Rushmore. Made the night time drive back from the evening ceremonies very easy.

We were camping with our adult children and grandkids. The grandkids loved it. There was plenty to keep them busy right in camp. Very clean, great staff, located conveniently to see the sights in the Black Hills. We went for a trail ride. Free mini-golf, a climbing wall, swimming pool, you almost don't need to leave the campground to have fun. Definitely take the shuttle bus to see Mt. Rushmore.

Great facility an helpful staff. Truly a resort.

Lots to do Only thing was in men and women’s showers was that they were muddy and the shower curtains needed replacing badly as some of them were black on the bottom Otherwise everything else was awesome Great store with great employees

This is a great place for families. Tons of activities to keep everyone happy. Book, travel and enjoy!

This trip was our first time staying at a KOA campground. We stayed at the one in Sioux Falls, SD, the one at Devils Tower, WY, and this one at Palmer Gulch Mt. Rushmore. I would have to say, we were very impressed. The one at Palmer Gulch Mount Rushmore was probably the best campground we have ever stayed at hands down.

Sorry just one night

Our lot was too small. Our toy hauler was backed into a creek on a lot we could barely fit on. We couldn't open the rear door. There was no parking space for our vehicles. The kids couldn't swim because it was disgusting. Even tho a new pool facility is being built the old pool should have been maintained for guests. The nearest laundry facility was closed. Friendly employees.

WAY overpriced. Cable TV promised on web -- none provided. I missed the Olympics and was very upset. This after spending $80 a Night! Overall two terms come to mind: "Tourist Trap" and "Price Gouging". For example: over $4.00 for a half-gallon of milk, $6.95 for ONE slice of plain CHEESE pizza. Find another sucker -- I'm through with you!

The bathrooms were horrible. Considering how expensive it is to stay at this KOA you'd think the bathrooms would be better kept. We loved all there was to offer but not everything was operating. There also want really any place to go if during the frequent summer rain if you didn't have an RV.

Site 438 was very poorly designed. The power and water pedestal were on the wrong side of the campsite and basically in the space of the adjacent camp site. The fire pit and table were on a slope and on the wrong side of our trailer when we were backed in. The design of that site negatively affected our ability to enjoy our camping experience. I don’t ever want to be in that site again.

Space so small our trailer barely fit. Had to park truck on grass. Barely could open truck doors between our trailer and neighbors. Broken down picnic table. Outrageous resort fee. Laundry room dryer steals money. Limited food. Too jammed with too many people!

Over crowded and noisy. OK it was Sturgis week. But many sites had a motor home, 2 pick ups, and a toy hauler. Getting in and out was difficult!
Aug 09, 2021
campsite is too tight, too crowed and too expansive.

I’d like to give this 5 stars, but a few things cause me to give it a 3. 1) Our firepit was not level so we could not cook on it, and there are not grills on the sites so firepit cooking was our only option for outdoor cooking. 2) the laundry facility closest to our site and pool bathrooms were “closed for the season” … when the campground is completely booked, I’d assume we’re “i

We dry docked for the night since they are closed for the season. This KOA is very beautiful with deer coming right up to the front door.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nites, and it was Phenomenal. A beautiful Resort atmosphere and even though it was at the very end of the season, every one there was very helpful and especially Becky. She is so knowledgeable about the area. I worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and I would hire here in a heartbeat to work with. KOA is very fortunate to have employees of this caliber.

This KOA is in a perfect location and would love to stay here again. We rented a glammed cabin which is just a upgrade from their simple cabins but well worth it in my opinion. Your cabin already comes with bedding, a mini fridge, microwave, outdoor grill and table and chairs. You have a beautiful view of the woods and the campground itself has so many activities. You're right in the middle of the black forest, custer state park and Mt Rushmore. I will definitely be staying there again.
