Great place and friendly staff. Clean restrooms and well kept property. We were there late in September and everything related to the campground was starting to shut down. Made restrooms and laundry very far for us. Even the restaurant and snack bar closed before October 1st which was suppose to be their shutdown date. Otherwise a very nice stay.

This is a great place to stay! Very close to all the major attractions, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Keystone, Hill City. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The campsite was very nice. We will be back!

No shuttle service that is advertised. I was told first that they had it. When we got there it didnt. Showers were not as clean as they should have been. Only good thing we got 2nd day refund.

Nothing advertised was open

Only problem was the bathrooms did not get cleaned- think you were low on staff since it was not peak season- but your campground was full…

Stayed 2 nights during the last week of September. Very little in the way of amenities available - most everything was closed down. Very disappointed in the cleanliness of the shower areas. Many were closed down already and those open were dirty. Trash was overflowing in several dumpsters/trash cans. Should charge less at end of season if amenities/quality are not up to par. Won't return.

Our stay was soooo wonderful! We met many fun neighbors who were gone the next day...we got to see the beautiful sights around the area, my very very favorite was Mt. Rushmore, Loved it!!!! But what made our stay there the best was the people who were working at the KOA.Very friendly, very helpful, smiles, and most important, very caring. They helped with a needed miracle while we were there.

The campground was lovely, it had all the amenities that a resort campground should have, the only drawback was the very weak WiFi.

Nice location, close to many adventures. Sites are not long enough to park travel trailer and truck. Many people parked on the grass between their trailer and their neighbors. We pulled across site but still just barely off the road. Showers and bathrooms were not very clean. Due to this being more of a destination location and not typically an overnight, WiFi should be available in a KOA resort.

Thank you for the hospitality. It was our first RV trip and the staff and campsite were excellent.
Sep 27, 2021
The campground was extremely crowded, no cell service, internet, or even TV (be prepared to be unplugged).

I enjoyed my sight, quite place, good location, bathrooms where not working, IF YOU ARE OPEN YOU SHOULD HAVE WORKING BATHROOMS, NOT DUCT TAPED CLOSED, OK FOR THE PRICE,

Wonderful location and great selection of camping sites, but the poor conditions of the “Comfort Centers” and hits and miss custodial service resulted in unsanitary hygiene conditions. We’ve stayed at eight KOA’s since June as we travel from coast to coast and have yet to leave a negative rate, but was so put-off by our experience that we had to provide you with feedback. Final note…

Our site was quite possibly the worst one we could have been given. Squashed between to RV’s and view of the bathroom with exhaust fan going continually. We booked our stay back in February and wasn’t sure how sites were doled out. After the 2nd night we asked if we could move. Next site was much better. Bathrooms were not cleaned daily. Seemed that maybe they are understaffed.

Very nice but very little places for dog walking. A lot of amenities were closed.

I booked my stay a YR in advance and when we got there the spot they put us in was directly in front of the showers with some loud fan that ran 24/7. The site were so small our truck was parked In the grass area next to our RV Sewer drain from the guy next door was right next to our picnic table We were also traveling with another party and I made note of that but they were no where near our site.

if you like crowded campsites this is the one for you. tiered site on side of mountain, kids everywhere, great rodeo, food tents worked well, convenient to attractions.
Sep 26, 2021
There were deep pot holes that need care. And when it rained it got very muddy. Cell service was nonexistent and wifi spotty at best. It was great being close to Rushmore but there were other parks with full cell and wifi service just 5 min further away.

Very clean, convenient. Loved that I could rent a car right there since we are older and don’t want to tow. All KOA campgrounds should do that!

Perfect place to stay while visiting the area. Amenities where awesome and very family friendly.
Sep 26, 2021
We stayed just one night while visiting Mt Rushmore. The check in staff was very helpful in recommendations for local restaurants & for visiting Mt Rushmore in the short time we had available. We only used the bathrooms & they were very clean. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is we had to edit our reservation last minute, we tried calling in the evening & no one answered the phone.

Wi-Fi on the public Palmer Gulch never worked over 3 nights/4 days. Wi-fi on our personal cell phone was slow/poor. Apparently no towers nearby. Stayed at site 506, which was back in with gravel. Size of the site was okay, but our picnic table was basically right next to the neighbor's black water septic tank connection. Would stay again in a pull through site, especially with a Deluxe KOA patio.
Sep 26, 2021
Too many things closed. No bar and restaurant. No internet or cell service.
Sep 26, 2021
Mount Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch resort is a beautiful park. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.
Sep 25, 2021
The employees were very friendly. All the restaurants and shops were closed. The public showers & restrooms were clean. The BIGGEST problem was the sites were way to close together and too short for the RVs they had assigned to them. We have only a 28 ft. TT and fit the pull through perfect but many of the huge RVs stuck out into the narrow roads causing issues. Will NEVER return to this park

Awesome place and centralized to all local activities. Recommend for families or couples. Friendly atmosphere and very accommodating!

Nice stay. Had everything you would need. Love that there is plenty of room for dig walks. Wish lots were bigger but it is what it is.

Really awesome. Wish we could of stayed longer. Marty and Hope

Staff was very friendly but sites were very close together, muddy, the entire campground looked run down/overused. It appeared that emphasis was on quantity, not quality. Not what we expected for a resort KOA. Also, WiFi was non-existent.

Campground and personnel were excellent.

When I booked our stay we registered with 2dogs. When we got there we was told they didn’t slow our breed of dogs in the park. We did get to stay but we had to load our dogs and take them off property to potty them. Almost all amenities was closed down and couldn’t even get pizza because their ovens were old and malfunctioning.
Sep 25, 2021
There is no cell and there wifi is iffy, no cable or digital signal maybe if you had satellite would be ok. most sites are on the small side. There are a lot of things to do on the grounds and close by. Also there are shops on grounds to go through
Sep 25, 2021
We were in the off season and sad to have missed so many things. My only complaint was lack of phone and WiFi.
Sep 25, 2021
The park is very nice !! We were kinda bummed that none of the shops were open except for the registration gift shop/store. We got in kinda late so not many options for food at 7:45pm or breakfast food. We did get a pizza at the last minute which KUDOS to the two young gentleman on Wednesday night when we got in it was already 8pm and they made us a couple pizzas and stayed open for others.

Convenient to everything in the area. A lot to do within the Campground, but very crowded while we were there. Some spaces like ours had standing water issues and the stream/creek behind our site was a breeding ground for mosquitos.
Sep 24, 2021
The campground literally has everything you need. Groceries, camp supplies, restaurants etc. It was too late in the season but the have stables bike rentals and rodes.
Sep 24, 2021
Excellent park! Very clean, centrally located to all the attractions. So much fun for kids.

Awesome campground!
Sep 23, 2021
Beautiful location. Easy to get to great attractions. Nice, helpful people!

Our site was ridiculously small. Our vehicle had to be parked between our camper and the neighbor with barely room to walk between AND up against our picnic table. I think the staff should put more effort into clean restrooms instead of clean UTVs and rental cars. Prices of supplies in the store were hyper inflated.

Stayed here three nights in one of the deluxe sites with a cement patio, swing bench, patio table, fire ring and Weber gas bbq. Very nice spacious site. This is a very large KOA resort with amenities like small water slide, miniature golf, pools, golf cart rentals and ATV rentals. Very close to Mount Rushmore and crazy horse monument. This is the nicest rv park we’ve stayed at.

We dry docked for the night since they are closed for the season. This KOA is very beautiful with deer coming right up to the front door.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nites, and it was Phenomenal. A beautiful Resort atmosphere and even though it was at the very end of the season, every one there was very helpful and especially Becky. She is so knowledgeable about the area. I worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and I would hire here in a heartbeat to work with. KOA is very fortunate to have employees of this caliber.

This KOA is in a perfect location and would love to stay here again. We rented a glammed cabin which is just a upgrade from their simple cabins but well worth it in my opinion. Your cabin already comes with bedding, a mini fridge, microwave, outdoor grill and table and chairs. You have a beautiful view of the woods and the campground itself has so many activities. You're right in the middle of the black forest, custer state park and Mt Rushmore. I will definitely be staying there again.
