This is our 3rd year at this location, and once again we all were sad to leave. There is something for everyone. Our favorites are kids movies at night, horseback riding, live music at Grapes and Grind. Thanks KOA!

Won’t stay there again. No cell phone reception. WiFi spotty at best. Can’t get important info when traveling

The Palmer Gulch site has amenities that are fabulous. The stables, Fin Zone, rental opportunities are outstanding. The staff Are friendly and helpful. It has 3 MAJOR issues. (1) it has the worst WiFi connectivity in an area with no cell service. Service needs upgrade. (2) Bathrooms are NOT well maintained (3) Nobody answers the phone line at ALL. There is no way to get someone quickly.

To much noise after hours and muddy around camp site many good things at the camp ground before I send someone to KOA Mt Rushmore I would tell them to get in camp early and inspect your site.

An RV park heaven for families with kids, especially between ages 6 and 12. Lots to do for our kids—who didn’t want to leave—giving the adults an opportunity to relax and enjoy being unplugged because the cell and Wi-Fi service at the campground was spotty at best. Everyone was very friendly and the ability to rent a car on site was key to touring Custer State Park when traveling in a Class

It was fantastic. Lots to see and do. You need a week minimum to see all.

Campsite was awfil internet didn't work site 300 should not even be campsite completely dissatisfied would not recommend or stay there again

Our site was so uneven! Even with the camper “leveled” we still were rolling out of bed and trying to walk “uphill” in our camper. We would likely never stay again. I’m sure it’s a great campground but it wasn’t for us.

Awesome RV park! Loved our stay!

We will definitely recommend this KOA to all our friends.

This was the third time we have stayed at Palmer Gulch and it won’t be the last! The facilities are always clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for all the things we enjoy doing!

I made reservation almost a year in advance and listed my rig information. The site I was given was very difficult to get in and out of, hard time leveling and barely enough space outside the door to walk around. Sites should be able to marked in your system as not applicable for certain size trailers or rv’s. No internet where we were it’s not hard to put towers throughout campground. To big/

Great place to stay with lots of activities for the family! It would be nice if you could pick, your site during reservation instead of being assigned one when you show up. Overall, we will stay here again!

Everything was great. The rv spaces were large and well kept. All the fun zone was great for the grandkids. We wold have liked the grill and other food venues to have been open.

Good campground. Zero wifi. No cell service. Since cell service is nonexistent, the resort should make a better effort at reliable wifi.

Very disappointed in everything in this zoo

Best koa I’ve camped at

We had a wonderful time there. The campground has everything you can think of. We loved the rodeo and horseback riding. Close to everything you would want to see. Only 5 miles from Mt Rushmore.

Wonderful vacation.

Park location great; close to Rushmore.Lots of kid things to do but watch out for them. Hard to follow guide to site; sites are on top of each other. The fire pit for the neighbors was literally 5 feet from my trailer and we have a short trailer. Within 5 minutes of them starting their fire we had to get out of trailer due to smoke. Didn't sleep much. And really, fires when the threat was so high?

It's really noisy due to ATVs. Tap room was not open even though sign on door looked like it should be. Other than that, great.

(+) Great amount of kids activities, great location to enjoy all the area attractions. Horseback riding was awesome, stable staff rocked! (-) no restrooms near the pool area, had to walk 1/2 block to closest working restrooms. Pool, slide and kiddie pools were freezing cold. Shower curtains were all moldy and filthy.

For extensive facilities and location to Mt. Rushmore it gets a 10 and 5 stars. However, I feel this park is really great for families with children but not for older adults desiring roomier and quiet campsites that are not so congested. Some sites not level. No Wi-Fi access. No cell phone service. Dirt interior roads and most campsites / means mud with rain. 8 minutes drive to Mt. Rushmore.

We were placed in a site near the sewage holding pond. The smell and stinch was so bad that we could not sit outside our camper to socialize or eat. They need to close the campsites down near the pond. There is also a horse stable in the same location. $95/night is way too much to be closed in to your camper.

Beautiful place. Many amenities, more than expected. Many happy people and employees pleasant. It’s the ideal camping resort.

Original reservation included our travel friends to be in a site next to us. However, they were taken to a different area of the park. Was eventually corrected. Also, we feel the road to our site (542) was way too narrow for big rigs - and other long rigs - to make their turns. We saw a 5th wheel had run into a class A's side slide.

This was our first time at a KOA.....the staff were very helpful and friendly......I was surprised that, although it was very busy with campers,,,it was quiet at night. Our 10 yr old enjoyed the putt putt golf!

Wonderful place. Rode the horses, ate fudge. Lots of pancakes and really a great bunch of Happiest Campers.
Aug 27, 2021
Everything was excellent. Clean facilities, multiple choices of campground recreation and the deluxe RV campsite was perfect. We actually extended our stay for a second time while we were there because the kids didn't want to leave and neither did we. Couple negatives that were resolved. Would go back in a heartbeat and will look for a KOA for all of our trips. We know what to expect. Awesome!

Showers were disgusting. They are small, with mildew on walls and shower curtain. Looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks Breakfast was blah
Aug 27, 2021
Lots of activities and food choices for those who don’t care to cook meals. I didn’t use any of the bath facilities so can’t comment on those. I would stay again.

Excellent overall, although I thought the pool, mini golf and water slide should be updated
Aug 26, 2021
The campsite assigned was extremely narrow. The fire pit ended up 3 feet from my trailer. The site was very difficult to get into with a 35' trailer. You might want to do something about the mold in the showers. On the plus side the kids liked the play area and the shops were nice.
Aug 26, 2021
No WiFi unless in or next to fixed building. No cell reception. Be sure to have your whole trip booked prior to arriving since you can’t use technology. Cramped sites that were uneven.

Such a great place to camp! So many things to do, and many nearby attractions!

Nice facility. A lot of activities. Friendly staff. Showers were ver nice and clean.

Amazing place centrally located, but the lack of cellular and Internet services is unacceptable.

Fantastic place, very close to many attractions!!

We dry docked for the night since they are closed for the season. This KOA is very beautiful with deer coming right up to the front door.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nites, and it was Phenomenal. A beautiful Resort atmosphere and even though it was at the very end of the season, every one there was very helpful and especially Becky. She is so knowledgeable about the area. I worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and I would hire here in a heartbeat to work with. KOA is very fortunate to have employees of this caliber.

This KOA is in a perfect location and would love to stay here again. We rented a glammed cabin which is just a upgrade from their simple cabins but well worth it in my opinion. Your cabin already comes with bedding, a mini fridge, microwave, outdoor grill and table and chairs. You have a beautiful view of the woods and the campground itself has so many activities. You're right in the middle of the black forest, custer state park and Mt Rushmore. I will definitely be staying there again.
