General Campground Information

Rates

All guests and visitors must be registered at the office. A maximum of 5 people allowed per reservation. Children 14 and under must be supervised by an adult 18 years of age or over at all times.

Access Gate/Vehicles

Arriving campers are issued a gate access code at check in. One (1) vehicle + RV is permitted.

Water

We are connected to the Town of Murphy water supply. Washing vehicles and other excessive water uses are prohibited.

Bath House

Bath house will periodically close during cold weather periods throughout the winter.

Visitors and Guests

Visitors can be accommodated for an additional fee. Site maximums still apply. Visitors and day guests must leave the property by quiet hours. All visitors and day guests must register at the office upon arrival.

Pet Policy

Pets are welcome at campsites and in designated pet-friendly lodging units. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, please review our pet policies.
  • Each site allows a maximum of two pets, and visitors are not permitted to bring pets. Pets must be supervised and kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times and cannot be left unattended outside. No outside kennels, cages or fences 
  • There are additional fees for pet-friendly accommodations. 
  • Guests must ensure their pets do not disturb other campers—excessive barking, howling, aggressive, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pets, with waste bags required to be properly disposed of in designated trash bins. Any pet-related damages to campsites, cabins, or campground property will be charged to the credit card on file following a management inspection.
  • If a guest is unable or unwilling to control their pet or comply with management's request to remove the pet, management reserves the right to terminate the guest's reservation and eject them from the campground without a refund.
  • All pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and proof of vaccination must be available upon request. Please note that, with the exception of service animals, pets are not permitted in restrooms, laundry, playgrounds, or swimming areas.
  • Guest assumes full responsibility for their pet(s) and agrees to release the campground, its owners, employees, and agents from any and all liability arising from pet-related injuries, damages, or accidents during their stay.

Swimming Pool

Pool opens for the season prior to Memorial Day weekend and closes for the season after Labor Day. There is NO lifeguard - swim at your own risk. Children under 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by an adult, without exception. For your own safety, please do not swim alone. Registered campers swim for free. Visitors of registered campers may use the pool and participate in scheduled activities upon payment of a visitor's fee. Running, pushing, diving, or rough play of any kind is PROHIBITED in the pool area. NO FOOD, ALCOHOL or GLASS containers are permitted in the pool area. Pool hours are 10:00 am to 8:00 pm (weather permitting).

RV Condition

All RV's shall be in proper working order. We reserve the right, in our judgment, to refuse RV's in poor or unsatisfactory condition.

We are committed to protecting the environment by recycling, conserving water and electricity, and being good stewards of our property.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your reservation, you must call the campground before the deadlines listed below to receive your deposit refund, minus a $20 cancellation fee.
Reservations made after these deadlines require nonrefundable deposits.
Text and email notifications of cancellations are not acceptable; you must call the campground to cancel over the phone.
Not calling to cancel/no-show will result in forfeiture of the entire reservation deposit.  
Campsite:
There is a $20 charge 7 days or more prior to the arrival date by 4 PM.
If you cancel LESS than 7 days there is NO REFUND.
Tent sites:
There is a $20 change 7 days or more prior to the arrival date by 4 PM.
If you cancel LESS than 7 days there is NO REFUND.
Deluxe Cabin:
There is a $20 charge 14 days or more prior to the arrival date by 4 PM.
If you cancel LESS than 14 days there is NO REFUND.

Check-In and Check-Out

RV & Tent Campsite: Check-In 2:00 PM; Check-Out 11:00 AM

Cabin and Lodging: Check-In 3:00 PM; Check-Out 11:00 AM

Early arrivals and late departures may be available, subject to availability and additional $25.00 fees.

Lengthen your stay?

Many campers arrive at Murphy KOA and wish they could stay longer. Please indicate at check-in, if extending your visit is an option, and confirm with us in the office as soon possible.

Trash Policy

All garbage should be put in designated garbage bins. For your convenience, we pick trash up daily between 8am to 12pm. Please tie up your bags  and  leave out at the end of your site. The dumpsters' locations may be found on your campground map. Do not leave trash out overnight. No hazardous waste or large items (furniture, mattresses, etc) may be disposed of on site. Violations of this will result in a minimum of a $250 fine.

24-Hour Laundry

Laundry is open 24 hours. Detergent, dryer sheets, and quarters are available in the General Store. Store hours are 9am-5pm. There is a Change machine between the bathrooms.

Blue Ridge Parkway

The westernmost entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Cherokee, NC is an hour drive east of Murphy KOA. As a member of the Blue Ridge Parkway Association our location is the perfect stopover to and from the Parkway.

Minimum Stay

Minimum stays for cabin and lodging rentals are 2 nights in peak season and 3 nights over Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day. Minimum stays for campsites and tents are 2 nights over Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Quiet Hours

Quiet hours are everyday from 10pm to 8am. During this time, children under 18 must be at their campsite or cabin unless accompanied by an adult. Avoid loud talking, music, TVs, or any noise that may disturb other guests is not permitted.

Courtesy of your Neighbor

Please respect others' privacy and space—avoid walking through other guests' sites. Honor local culture, wildlife, and resources, and follow local bylaws. We are committed to an inclusive, family-friendly environment. Harassment, offensive language, excessive use of alcohol, illegal drugs, or intolerance of any kind will not be tolerated. Flags, signs, or symbols that display vulgarity or political content are not allowed. Non-compliance may result in immediate ejection without refund.

Propane Fill

Available for market price during store hours of operation.

Campfires

All fires must be in Park approved fire pits, portable fire pits, or barbecue devices. Fire must be controlled in a safe manner and must be attended at all times. Please do not burn or leave trash in fire pits, and do not move pits without permission from the staff.

Golf Carts

All guests must comply with the following rules regarding the use of golf carts on the property.
  1. Each guest must register their personal golf cart with the office upon check-in. Must present valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance.
  2. Each guest owning a golf cart is solely responsible for ensuring that all operators of the golf cart are a minimum of 16 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. 
  3. Golf carts must have headlights on while in use after sunset. Carts without headlights may not be used after sunset.
  4. Golf carts must be driven responsibly at all times. Horseplay, racing, or any misuse of carts is prohibited. Use is limited to blacktop or gravel roads only; driving through RV sites or restricted areas is not permitted.
  5. Operating a golf cart while consuming or under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
  6. Do not exceed the seating capacity of the golf cart. All occupants must be seated while the cart is in motion.
  7. Engage the brake and remove the key when the cart is not in use.
  8. Drivers must adhere to all speed limits and posted signs.

Electric Vehicle (EV)

EV charging is not allowed from any of our electrical pedestals. Plugging an EV into a pedestal could permanently damage the vehicle and the whole campground's electrical system. The EV owner will be liable for any damage done to the system.
