A very nice and clean campsite with a great location

We were only there for one night. Campground was not crowded and very easy to get in and out of. The staff was super helpful and escorted us to our site. There were too many trees to get satellite reception, but there were lots of channels over the air antenna. Glad we stopped by. Also found a good Mexican restaurant in town.

Nice clean Park, seems that a lot of sites by the lake are taken by permanent rv’s. Very few people were there, perhaps they come for the weekends, a great overnighter, close to the interstate, but quiet.

There had obviously been a lot of rain prior to our arrival. Campground roads full of standing water and very muddy. Actual site was the same. Lots of mud and standing water around camper. Would suggest more rock on roads and site. Additional rock would improve drainage and make for much nicer entry/exit. Would also suggest adding cable TV service. Otherwise, beautiful campground.

6 inches of rain in less than 2 days, no amount of rock is going to help.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped here as an overnight stop on our way to St Louis. They moved us to a spot with a view of the lake and when our circuit blew, they helped us figure out the problem. Great people at this campground!

we were put in a pull thru that was way too small the picnic table was against the next camper and we couldn't even put our awning down and the fire ring was next to the road also had the camper on the south side table against our camper so we couldn't get into our outside compartment to get our chairs out barely had enough room to use our grill probably had less than 5 feet between campers

We are sorry you had unhappy camping experience, you should have said something while you were on-site, 5ft is not accurate. You did request this spot to be next to friends. Our deluxe sites are much larger, you may have been able to have been moved to one of those if you would have said something.

Wonderful site! One comment: Please have the staff that answers the phones enunciate / speak clearly. Had to ask for things to be repeated several times because the person on the phone was not talking into the phone. Also staff should have a map of the area or region so when asked about directions from a certain location the question can be answered in a positive manner...not I don't know!

Sorry you had problems hearing our staff, maybe it was your phone too, cell phones don't always work the best. As far as directions, our staff knows about things in the area meaning within 30 to 60 miles, we are sorry we were not familiar with your route. We travel with a map, do you? May we suggest downloading the KOA app, GPS or google maps they work well for directions.

Passing though town was ready to stop for the night. Fortunately we were able to get a site last minute. The ladies at the check in counter were extremely helpful and courteous. The person who took us to our site was very nice and helpful also. He even had our firewood at the site before we were. Very nice campground on a beautiful lake. Only issue were the mosquitoes they left when we burned sage

The bathrooms were scary.

This is laughable! You had a full hookup site, did you even use our restrooms? Our bathrooms are very clean and we have plenty of reviews saying so not sure what you meant by "scary"?

Just stayed 1 night but the RV Park is very nice. We also stayed here last year so we definitely recommend it!

When made reservation told them that on Saturday note two more would be coming when they got three a man came over and demanded 10.00 dollars more when at reservation time they said no problem

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Every guest is no problem but need to check in at the office and this is the person registered at the campsites responsibility. Overnight guest are $5 and visitors are $3 which is clearly outlined in the campground rules on your site map. Your guests didn't stop or pay, that is why they were told to pay the fee, if you didn't want this to happen you should have paid for them at check-in.

Nice job, guys! The whole place seems to have a facelift and brightened up since we stayed here last year. I like the way it is tidier around the long term resident’s campsites too! This is our designated stop-over for 5 years now on our annual trek from SW Missouri on our way to Montana. A great little respite.

Onawa was the best KOA that we have ever stayed at. We are longtime KOA campground users and this one is by far the best. Lots of trees for shade, quiet (not along a highway) and so close to the river for water activities! If we ever go through Iowa again, this will be our spot! Thank you!

We were there for one night on our way to South Dakota. Location is easily accessible form Interstate 29. Bathrooms were reasonably clean. Staff was friendly. We'd stay there again.

Nice park - tight spots. Seasonal resident next door didn’t care about quiet hours & at 6:00 am started full fire and talked by fire with guest until 7:00 am. Really hard to sleep 12 feet away!! �

Stayed 3 nights, it's a nice, clean park with pretty lake views. One problem with our site, we were next to a tree and couldn't use our awning.

We are traveling with our family and have stayed at several KOA this trip. We have a 20 year old and we could not make it to this campground. We had to stop for his needs and stopped at another KOA. I called to ask for a refund and was told....nope sorry that's the policy. Disappointing that no consideration for the safety of a family just make sure you get paid.

I am not sure if you are confusing us with someone else but you did stay with us. You made a reservation in afternoon online that you stayed with us and checked in later in the day. No one in our office received a phone call about cancelling. I am not sure what the issue was here, I hope you understand the majority of the KOAs are independently owned and operated.

My husband and I stayed here for the first time in July 2021. We have been back multiple times since! I was worried after reading some reviews as people were complaining about strict rules. We didn't find it strict at all. Everyone we dealt with went out of their way to be helpful. I tend to ask a lot of questions but never once was I shut down or felt like I was a bother. The lake is beautiful and reminds us of much longer trips we used to take to Minnesota. Campground very well cared for, cleanest restrooms we have ever seen/used at a KOA. The pool was kept perfectly clean and was so enjoyable. The RV spaces are very well spaced out, beautiful shade trees for my hubby who can't do the sun! Both sets of my kids and grandkids came out and had the best time! New dog park for my furkids and wonderful new playground for kids. This was an amazing place, and we hope to be going here for years. Thank you.

Typically, we don't stay in KOAs: we camp in the back of our pickup, with two mattresses in the bed and we don't need hookups or electricity. But since Lewis and Clark State Park campground on the other side of the lake books up very early for the summer season, we ended up reserving a tent site at this KOA. Our stay was pleasant enough. The site was right on the lake, with other simple campers (a family in a tent trailer) right next to us. No problems with rowdy behavior or noise. Restroom facilities (toilets, sinks, showers) were clean and well maintained. There were lots of huge RVs in the other parts of the campground, crammed in very close together. We were glad to have reserved a tent site.
