As the hosts seemed to suspect would happen, the campers next door to us were up and loud until 3 am. I wish they had checked on them since they seemed to know it was going to be a problem.

The RV park is peaceful and quiet, the campsites are laid out in a hilly oak tree covered terrain providing space and distance between neighbors and shade at various times of day. Park hosts are helpful and courteous. The park includes many amenities not all KOA parks offer. We really enjoyed having a site with both a campfire fire ring and separate charcoal BBQ grill.

The campsite has a massive yellow jacket problem which wasn't disclose. It was impossible to cook or eat as the scent of food, especially meat, would attract a swarm of yellow jackets. If it weren't for this problem, I would rate this campground C+ or B- mainly because each camp site is spaced right next to each other. The bathroom & showers were fairly well cleaned and maintained. Great location.

We were tenting and found the campsite and bathrooms very clean. Most sites are very private. The staff was so courteous and helpful. We will stay again.

The location is great, the staff was friendly and professional. We really enjoyed the trip but ended up leaving early due to the heat wave and the air quality. I hope we get a chance to come back under better conditions!!

My first trip to Santa Margarita. Camp site was great. Unfortunately everything on lake was closed but will definitely return.

My first time camping at a KOA campground and it won’t be my last. I’m planning to get a membership now because the staff were helpful and it had clean bathrooms and showers.

It was such an awesome experience! Camp site #22 was awesome. Plenty of space for everyone. The staff was very helpful. The bathrooms were great. Having electric & water was definitely worth the additional fee. Everything was great. I will be coming again in the future to this campground.

The campground was nice and well kept. It seemed less populated due to the hills and design of the location. If you are looking for a good lake to go to nearby, there isn't great options.

It was a nice getaway overall. The movie night is a good, fun idea. However, one thing that can be improved is the amount of restrooms. Having one restroom available at each facility is not realistic for a site that large. And the cleanliness could be improved. Other than that, staff was great, very friendly and accommodating.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

It sounds like you were using the restroom by the pool instead of our largest multi-stall restroom uphill from your site. Bathhouse #2 is hidden from sight but super close to Tent Sites 5-7.

It was nice to just sit and relax without any worries. The cabin was very clean which was a super plus. Good and bad thing was the wifi didnt work at our cabin.

Pros: the tent sites were spacious w/separate fire & BBQ pits; water was clean; “Jumping Pillow” was popular w/the children; pool was great; the bathrooms and showers were clean. Cons: while posted as shutting off at 11:00 p.m., the bathroom lights were on all night illuminating our campsite (so much for star gazing); lots of dust when windy but that’s Central CA for you.

It was nice to be so close to the lake to go kayaking. The restrooms were disgusting. They were not cleaned even once during our 2 night stay. I actually took it upon myself to wipe down the sink area in the women's bathroom. The staff in the office were nice but the office closed so early (5pm).

Our site was so tiny that we could barely fit our tent and two cars. For $78 a night (tent camping) that was really a disappointment. Also, very disappointed that you can’t use the lake. Jumping pillow was fun, that’s why I give it 3 stars instead of 1

Our original reservation in Morro Bay was cancelled due to covid. Santa Margarita was able to accommodate. We were SO happy with the change. There was so much for the kids to do. Next time we plan on booking early so we can get sites close to eachother. The hills were a definite workout.

enjoyed the stay, quiet, peaceful, hosts were very friendly, assisted us with courtesy. The only drawback was the long trip to Pismo Beach where we had family. thank you very much. will be back...

We stayed in the overflow area, the staff were great. We walked the campground area, liked the setup , the camp spots were good, cabins were a good feature for family without a camping setup and not to forget Kevin the Emu.

We've been staying at the KOA at Santa Margarita, CA for over 30 years and it has become that special sanctuary where we can go to get renewed and recharged. The staff is consistently the best. Facility is maintained well and is clean. Love, love, love this KOA. Thank you!

We stayed on a Wednesday and the marina was closed��� Wish there was gravel or dg at the sites. Very very dusty The sad ostriche �� was a problem to a bunch of us

First of all I was not a fan of KOA. I have looked at a few in the past, not good. However I looked at all the reviews and was impressed. So we gave it a try. This is not your normal KOA. If you were like me about KOA give this one a try, you will be pleasantly surprised. The park is very well kept, RV spaces great kids had fun, and the lake was nice. Come see for yourself...I will be back!!!!

We found our accommodations to be clean & just as described online. There were plenty of activities for our kids & older adults. The campgrounds were clean & the staff were friendly with lots to suggest about local entertainment. Would definitely go again. Best feature. "Jumping Pillow"!

loved the place. The only downside that would keep me from rating our stay as a 10 or giving the place 5 stars was the $55/night cost for overflow camping which was dry camping. That's very expensive for not having any sort of hookups, especially when the temperatures were in the high 90's/low 100's and we had to use our generator for ~10 hours per day to keep our Air Conditioning running

Camp was dry, dusty, too hilly and expensive. But the staff was great, so helpful with a camper problem we had, esp. the maintenance staff person.

Cabin was fine. I doubt I would ever spend the money to stay there again. Really the KOA provides nothing. Enjoyed the area though.

We liked your campground, except for the fact that there was an issue with your electrical outlets. My rig had our surge protector connected thankfully. Power was surging at times and other times not enough amperage. My refrigerator wasn't working properly and we were absolutely level. Your staff was very helpful and nice. We will stay again if power is fixed. Thank you.

Amazing Camping. A lot of to do with kids. So nice swimming pool and Zip Line area. I am recommend this a special at the week days!

5 stars for sure ! What hidden gem ! Wolf & Lisa and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly, very helpful as well as extremely knowledgeable of the area. My wife and I had a great time enjoying the camp store as well as the lake and the surrounding area. The campground was very well kept and clean we cant wait to make it back again. Thanks KOA
