It’s beautiful place ! Close to Moro Bay, Avila Beach and Pismo Beach. Bathroom and shower are very clean and nice. People who works there are extremely nice, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Santa Margarita KOA.

Clean campgrounds, bathrooms, convenience store well stocked, friendly staff, nice amenities and pool area. Employees could do a better job with Covid procedure. Signs were clearly posted with rules but employees weren't always wearing masks or social distancing when interacting with guests. They could enforce these things a bit better with their guests too.

This was an amazing experience! We discovered this KOA when our initial campground got closed due to fires, and we couldn't be happier with this campground! The host lady was very nice and welcoming and had a very cute dog! She helped us get the perfect campground and pointed us to beautiful hikes with a view of the lake. Not to mention the bathrooms are very clean and Kevin the Emu is awesome!

We enjoyed our stay very much. This park is kid friendly which is important for us because we have 4 kids.

The expected was amazing. The staff was incredible and took many extra steps to make everyone feel welcome and safe. We will sooooo do this again. :)

Hate to say it, but we really disagreed with them allowing open flame camp fires. They're surrounded by dry tender, and this is early September when all CA forests are closed due to fire threat. No where else allows fires right now. Seems irresponsible and simply unsafe given the conditions. Wouldn't go back to this place.

Nice campground layout and great activities. Close to a lake with great boating and fishing. Not far from the beach. Could use more shade for some tent camping sites. Bathroom access is not so convenient.

We loved our stay at your camp . But there was not much to do . Maybe because of the covid . We still had fun looking up at the stars at night . We will definitely be back

Kim was so accommodating and polite! Last minute on a busy weekend and she found the last spot for us. Was amazed at how everyone in campgrounds was cooperative and complied by the rules - not one loud radio or screaming child! Will be back for certain.

It was nice to meet the owner, Karen. She made me feel very welcome on our arrival. All the other staff members were very interested in making sure that everyone in the campground was having a great camping experience as opposed to the government run campsites. It was a very personable experience interacting with everyone I came in contact with who worked there. Can't find that much these days.

I had a wonderful two days here. The staff in the office/store are rays of light. The campground is peaceful, gorgeous, and a genuinely good-spirited area. I would only recommend this campground to people who prioritize respecting their environment.

Nice people, noisy but quiet hours were generally maintained, seems like fun for kids (which we don't have). pet friendly, cabins and yurts look nice, we did the tent camping with just water hookup. the only ding would be that it's a challenge to get into some spots, including ours - very steep angles and narrow car path on a hill

Fun stay for kids and adult kids. I camped by myself in tent camping it was my first stay at a KOA as a member. I enjoyed watching the kids and can’t wait to take my grandkids.

As the hosts seemed to suspect would happen, the campers next door to us were up and loud until 3 am. I wish they had checked on them since they seemed to know it was going to be a problem.

The campsite has a massive yellow jacket problem which wasn't disclose. It was impossible to cook or eat as the scent of food, especially meat, would attract a swarm of yellow jackets. If it weren't for this problem, I would rate this campground C+ or B- mainly because each camp site is spaced right next to each other. The bathroom & showers were fairly well cleaned and maintained. Great location.

We were tenting and found the campsite and bathrooms very clean. Most sites are very private. The staff was so courteous and helpful. We will stay again.

My first time camping at a KOA campground and it won’t be my last. I’m planning to get a membership now because the staff were helpful and it had clean bathrooms and showers.

It was a nice getaway overall. The movie night is a good, fun idea. However, one thing that can be improved is the amount of restrooms. Having one restroom available at each facility is not realistic for a site that large. And the cleanliness could be improved. Other than that, staff was great, very friendly and accommodating.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

It sounds like you were using the restroom by the pool instead of our largest multi-stall restroom uphill from your site. Bathhouse #2 is hidden from sight but super close to Tent Sites 5-7.

Pros: the tent sites were spacious w/separate fire & BBQ pits; water was clean; “Jumping Pillow” was popular w/the children; pool was great; the bathrooms and showers were clean. Cons: while posted as shutting off at 11:00 p.m., the bathroom lights were on all night illuminating our campsite (so much for star gazing); lots of dust when windy but that’s Central CA for you.

Our site was so tiny that we could barely fit our tent and two cars. For $78 a night (tent camping) that was really a disappointment. Also, very disappointed that you can’t use the lake. Jumping pillow was fun, that’s why I give it 3 stars instead of 1

We stayed in the overflow area, the staff were great. We walked the campground area, liked the setup , the camp spots were good, cabins were a good feature for family without a camping setup and not to forget Kevin the Emu.

loved the place. The only downside that would keep me from rating our stay as a 10 or giving the place 5 stars was the $55/night cost for overflow camping which was dry camping. That's very expensive for not having any sort of hookups, especially when the temperatures were in the high 90's/low 100's and we had to use our generator for ~10 hours per day to keep our Air Conditioning running

I booked the most requested campsite and was not disappointed. Close to the bathroom and secluded. The Bees were a bit crazy. The 4 days we stayed only 2 people were stung once so I feel that wasn’t bad at all. It was quiet for the most part and when it was noisy it didn’t bother us, people are just having fun during this crazy time. Staff were awesome! Thank you.

We had a great time. The walk/hike to the bathrooms from our yurt wasn’t fun but it was good exercise. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We would stay again.

Wonderful area..very nice campground...Site 63 gets alot of dust from cars driving past...would camp in another site there. Staff friendly and facilities clean. Would return again.

We liked our site, if we ever come back i would love to be on that site again, near the restroom and more shade. My kids miss our campsite already. I just hope this pandemic will be over soon so all can explore and visit this KOA.

Your staff is wonderful, helpful, friendly(good rates, beautiful country & lake). I cannot recommend at this time, very sorry. Parts of the campground road have been eroded and your dirt steps down to the bathroom as well, both are dangerous. (please fix two things ASAP to protect yourself & campers) I watched as a young woman slid on the steep road and broke her ankle. Thank You and God Bless

Amazing Camping. A lot of to do with kids. So nice swimming pool and Zip Line area. I am recommend this a special at the week days!

5 stars for sure ! What hidden gem ! Wolf & Lisa and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly, very helpful as well as extremely knowledgeable of the area. My wife and I had a great time enjoying the camp store as well as the lake and the surrounding area. The campground was very well kept and clean we cant wait to make it back again. Thanks KOA
