Been staying here every year since before KOA purchased the camp. Office staff was great. Facilities are ok but need upgraded Outside staff was curt and unfriendly. The way they look at you was as if you were wanted by law enforcement. I worked at this park for 2 years. New management needs to work on customer service by outside staff

We've stayed at SPI KOA many times over the years, but this year, it was not a great experience. The park sites seemed way too crowded in, but we were staying in a lodge. First, Keurig choices were one chocolate, one decaf and two heavy dark roasts. Too darkly roasted for us. We thought NOT ENOUGH SPACE TO LEAVE OUR TWO COMPLAINTS. WHERE CAN WE LEAVE THE REST OF OUR COMMENTS?

Everyone was very friendly. Our room was clean, but could have been cleaner. There was hair in the bath tub. Had to reclean. The shades were hard to open and fell apart trying to open. Seems a little dated. And could be cleaned up a bit. We stayed in one of the water tower condos. Too bad they don't have an elevator. We were on 2nd floor. Think we will stay in one of the cabins next time. Fun!

Very outdated on pool and common area. Prices are high per night. Very outdated gym.

Stayed in the deluxe cabins on the water. Location was perfect. Spa remained a bit cool while we were there but didn’t change my opinion of the facility. Hope to see Pier 19 rebuilt as a convenient place to dine and enjoy a sunset beverage.

George and I celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary by staying at the KOA. We had a nice time and only wish we could have stayed longer. Our cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The only problem we had was that when we took our showers the fuse would blow and the lights would go out and the water went cold. Very annoying and uncomfortable!

Cabin 8 appears to be 15 years old and needs remodeled or replaced. It's the only cabin overlooking the bay that is handicap accessiblle. The interior plumbing, electrical and walls/trim has issues and haven't been corrected for the last two years and 4 different stays there. The staff is great and very helpful. Have the same cabin booked for September 2022.

We stayed at the South Padre KOA on February 25-26 2022 in a cabin. While packing to leave a cockroach went running across the bed. I caught it to show the folks at the front desk. I had to call the manager twice before he called me back. I explained what had happened and was told that this was the south and this happens. Not happy with answer or how it was handled. Will be looking else where.

Beautiful little cabin, perfect for our family stay.

This review has been removed by KOA due to profanity.

The cabin we stayed at was well maintained and clean. It had all the amenities we needed and we loved the location on the bay. The only down side was unable to sleep because of all the fire engines and police cars. We stayed up watching the Pier 19 restaurant burn to the ground.

It was great! Stayed in a Bayside cabin. It was very clean and roomy. The activities were great and the kids loved the play area and the pool. The staff there is very nice and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay. However, the bed in the only bedroom was not big enough for both of us so my husband slept on the pull out couch which was not comfortable. I killed a few bugs while we were there. Wasn’t as clean as I keep my home, but we could make it work for 3 days. We will not stay there again but the park is nice.

Very well kept. We have stayed in both RV spots and Kamping Kabins. Very nice.

Great waterfront cabin locations! Beds need upgraded & hot water tripping breaker box needs remedying. Daily pooper picker near cabins suggested; got my shoe full of poop. Overall fun experience.

Studio cabin: no kitchen sink, had to use bathroom sink, which was not an appetizing idea to us. Bed had a terrible dip on one side. Probably common issue due to humidity however mildew and buildup on fixtures was gross. Tub floor had bad repair. Told there were dishes for four, only had cups & glasses. Nice location with nice patio. If return would try a larger unit for second chance.

Always enjoy our visit, and we'll be back. Weather was not so good, but KOA can't control that. Cabin could use a little maintenance. Wall plug in living area dangerously out from wall, dried blood in freezer, heater not producing heat and rather run-down and dirty overall. Could use a little more instruction with the TV.. Cabin location is perfect which made ship and bird watching fun.

This is the sixth time we have stayed at the SPI KOA. Every time we go the standards are very impressive. And so is the staff. See you next month. Thank you

We do have something to complain about in KL#8. Every evening a cat urine smell would start coming out of the vents. We would open everything up and air it out but we had to turn off the fan for it to stop. There are a stray cat or two hanging around Pier 19 and they may be using the cabin's underground as a toilet. This would be really bad if we needed the heat on all night.

We stayed in one of the water front cabins. Everything was very neat and clean. The cabins show some age, but seem well maintained. We really enjoyed the deck overlooking the bay with lots of birds to watch and the dolphins put on a great show. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would give our stay 5 stars, but the wifi was very weak. We had to go to the common area just to use email.

We had an amazing stay at lodging area of the park! Kids had fun in the pool. We had to stay one night due to the weather but we will be back soon. We found our place here at the Island! Thank you for your hospitality!

Great Waterview! Clean cabin. Pool was fairly green this time, potholes & standing water near the cabins need fixed. Would request the ability to exchange towels daily vs every 3rd day. Sewage smell quite strong outside. Window blinds need some repairs & light bulbs replaced in cabin.

We are work campers and this location and KOA were perfect for our next temporary home on our winter journey. Staffing is great and helpful. This was our first visit to South Padre and didn't know what to expect. This KOA was a perfect place to stay. This end of the island seems to be where the large RV parks are located. Isla Blanca Park is another large RV park located next door and run by Cameron county. Several smaller beach camping ares are also run by the county along State Park rd 100. South Padre island and Port Isabela have plenty of restaurants and services available in a short drive. Several fun attractions are just minutes away from the park. The weather was cold and rainy most of the week we camped at this KOA. Since we were work camping, the weather didn't really matter and we didn't get a chance to take advantage of many of the amenities. We did inspect those we didn't take advantage of. WiFi, laundry and shower facilities are distributed well throughout the park and worked well. Propane is also available on site and not at an overly inflated price. At the end of the pier is a good restaurant and several types of water excursions. Just wish we had more time and better weather to properly check it all out. Defiantly a place to stay longer than a week. The park is on the bay side of the island, has a lot of palm trees and quite pretty. One thing I thought was cool about the park is it seems to be built on an old water pumping station. I wasn't able to confirm this, but it looks like the office and community rooms are built inside old water reservoir tanks. The swimming pool seems to be built on an old outdoor water holding pool. Some large water distribution pipes protrude out of the ground in some areas and are integrated into the concept of the whole park. Very well done. Hope we can find our way to this KOA again.
