Great place and great location. Staff is as helpful and friendly as can be. Some BBQ grills would be nice and even some fire pits as well.

Employees were very helpful

Very tight spaces. No oceanfront. We went to SPI for beachwalks, fun and relaxation. We found none at this KOA. I was shocked because I expected something so different.

Very nice place. Was not that bad during spring break. A little tight fit for our 41 foot fifth wheel in spot 014. Great views of the sunsets .

Great location, staff was very accommodating. Free city shuttle bus was great and was able to get around without any expense, best of all one of the pick up locations was just outside the park entrance.Shuttles run every 30 minutes until 9pm.

Very nice place, funky cool facilities in former water tanks? Great location. Nice sites. Read complaints they are too close together but I’ve been to many places where the sites are closer, so not sure what that’s about.

Great staff. clean comfortable facility, Wi;; be back for sure

Too many young unsupervised children were running wild on bikes, foot, scooters etc creating a dangerous environment. I asked for a quiet site and was put in the main, nonstop noisy entrance road even though other sites were available. A sign needs to be put up saying Pier 19 is closed to reduce car traffic from outsiders. Noisy construction vehicles were up and down the road. No peace here.

We found the staff to be much less friendly this year more than the previous 9 years we have been coming to SPI. There were unposted "rules" arbitrarily enforced by cranky staff members. The pool had very large portions of surface missing that skinned mine, my children, and my wife's feet. The hot tub was green-ish most of our stay. The easy access for pedestrians was closed.

Restaurant on the pier burned down. Not there fault but sure a disappointment

Stay enjoyable. Staff pleasant / helpful; Location excellent; area quiet (even with March Break)! Annoyed at the price - 2 days at $85 and 2 days at $77. Galveston $61; Corpus C $64.99. Both 10/10 properties. I think you are slipping: Back washroom - urinal broken; exhaust fan broken; paper towel dispenser broken; shower ridiculously small; picnic bench old/slivers. Can't give you a 10!

I did notice slight improvements to your facility and I was told that some much needed ones are in the plans. If all of your employees would be as positive as Johnny and Shannon you will remain a favorite among your fans

Nicely located by the water. Wish the sites were more roomy; felt like a parking lot

Easy check in and friendly staff.

We liked the facilities & beautiful weather. The RV sites are really close and we were without water for a number of days during our stay. Jess in the front office is AMAZING!!!

Not as Pleasant of stay in 2021-22 as past 7 years with KOA South Padre!!! We will see what next year brings under new management and decide if we continue to winter with KOA South padre island.

We had a really good time at South Padre Island KOA. The only thing we had an issue with is the WiFi. Throughout our 8 day stay we continually had connection issues. Quite frustrating when the weather is cold and rainy and watching TV is the only thing to do. Other than that, everything was great!!

We had a great time but would like to see more activities. We will be back next year.

The campground was good and offered great amenities. It was unfortunate that the weather did not cooperate. There was no sun and lots of wind. But we enjoyed the area.

I wish the park actually recycled since the city makes it easy to do so. Your staff such as Shannon, Steve, Doug, Chris and Dottie were very friendly. Please have social director schedule a visit to the zoo…Mary arranged it in the past and it was very pleasant.

Koa fine, weather not so fine.

Nice place. Very responsive. A gate in the fence to shorten the walk to the beach and restaurants would be a big plus!!

Great location, Pool and laundry need to be updated

Weather was cold but the KOA was great. We’ll be back.

Wonderful experience with the front desk. We had unexpected bad weather and she let us shorten our stay without penalty
Mar 09, 2022
Convenient location but the park is too big and very congested, with sites too close together.
Mar 09, 2022
Nice staff, nice location. Tight sites and gravel surface not the best.

Always an awesome stay

Please tell people to unhook any towed vehicles. I had to make turn much sharper than I should have made. My fault but I did not know what turns I would have to make. Love the people working there. Very friendly. Love the garbage pick up. Put it out and 10 minutes later it is gone. Another dog park would be useful. Hate the rock covering the sites.

Been coming to this KOA for years. Occasional infrastructural problems (unreliable cable TV, power issues due to archaic delivery systems (both on-site & city-wide) and a few others, are, incrementally, being addressed. The new management & staff are friendly and helpful and seem to have a handle on what needs to be done, and are doing it. Encouraging for realizing this KOA's true potential.

We spent a wonderful month at this KOA and will again

It was a beautiful park and a great pool. The people were very friendly. The space we had in was very noisy and close to the main road. Unfortunately the pier burned down 3 days before we arrived so we couldn't fish or Kayak at the park. Personally I love being very close to the beach and can do without the amenities and landscaping so on our next trip back we will be staying at the county park.

Well kept with nice amenities. great helpful staff.

The park was well-maintained the staff was very friendly we enjoyed our stay we plan to come back

Customer service needs to be improved. Office personnel need more training in the park sites/RV dynamics so that campers feel respected. Special attention needs to be given to the service people manning the propane gas; they were efficient and courteous at all times needed. Otherwise, our three months were comfortable; we urge a more cheerful staff next year and a more diverse entertainment age

I went into the park knowing they would get 5 stars. However, upon check-in I was told the pier and its restaurants had burned down. So that area was closed. Had I known, I would have canceled. No food. Later to find out the island was on a “water boil advisory”starting the day before I checked in. I just put new filters on rv and I am extremely bothered that bad water ran through my new rv.

Cost changing. This koa is going to a daily rate charge. No more monthly rate. Why?

We are work campers and this location and KOA were perfect for our next temporary home on our winter journey. Staffing is great and helpful. This was our first visit to South Padre and didn't know what to expect. This KOA was a perfect place to stay. This end of the island seems to be where the large RV parks are located. Isla Blanca Park is another large RV park located next door and run by Cameron county. Several smaller beach camping ares are also run by the county along State Park rd 100. South Padre island and Port Isabela have plenty of restaurants and services available in a short drive. Several fun attractions are just minutes away from the park. The weather was cold and rainy most of the week we camped at this KOA. Since we were work camping, the weather didn't really matter and we didn't get a chance to take advantage of many of the amenities. We did inspect those we didn't take advantage of. WiFi, laundry and shower facilities are distributed well throughout the park and worked well. Propane is also available on site and not at an overly inflated price. At the end of the pier is a good restaurant and several types of water excursions. Just wish we had more time and better weather to properly check it all out. Defiantly a place to stay longer than a week. The park is on the bay side of the island, has a lot of palm trees and quite pretty. One thing I thought was cool about the park is it seems to be built on an old water pumping station. I wasn't able to confirm this, but it looks like the office and community rooms are built inside old water reservoir tanks. The swimming pool seems to be built on an old outdoor water holding pool. Some large water distribution pipes protrude out of the ground in some areas and are integrated into the concept of the whole park. Very well done. Hope we can find our way to this KOA again.
