Welcome to the Virginia City / Nevada City KOA Journey!

Located in the National Historic District of Virginia City, the former territorial capital of Montana. This small campground offers a quiet respite on your Montana vacation. Spend a day or three exploring this old west ghost town. Whether it's exploring, fishing, OHV exploring or hiking, Virginia City and Nevada City have much to offer.
Virginia City and the Main Street businesses are mostly owned by the State of Montana, which stepped in to protect and preserve the historic buildings that line the streets and backroads of town. There are hundreds of historically preserved buildings, and it doesn't take much imagination to see what life may have been like during the gold rush days of the 1860s.
The town of Ennis in the Madison Valley is 15 minutes from the campground and has a fantastic grocery store with all the provisions for your camping stay, but don't miss the quaint downtown with shops, bars and restaurants. The Madison River, which flows through Ennis, is a renowned blue-ribbon fishery. Yellowstone Park, America's First National Park, is just over an hour's drive south.

Experience the Vigilante Trail 3-7-77

During the 1920s and 30s the Vigilante Trail was a primitive dirt road loading to Yellowstone Park.  Adventuresome early travelers relied on these simple hubcap-sized trail markers fastened to trees and posts as their only guide through this wild country. 3-7-77 refers to the Vigilantes coded warning, left to encourage frontier ruffians and criminals to leave the country..or else.  The warning was later incorporated into the symbol for the Montana Highway Patrol.
